I'm not even kidding this man has save my life! I call him math daddy to all my friends! I went through 8 math tutors, 3 different math teachers, and several hours of different math videos before I came across this man and his videos! I love the way he teaches. If it wasn't for him I would be failing my math classes! Thank you Professor Leonard! Plz never stop teaching math! I pray to you math god!

Very thoroughly explained thank you. If only my teacher at school had been this thorough.

I have a deep and profound respect for engineers. I made a huge decision today having switched my major from Mechanical Engineering to Business. The physics and math took a toll and I just didn't have the passion and drive to do it anymore. Thanks Leonard for helping me achieve that A in College Calc!

It's great to revisit algebra 1 applications.

The percentage decrease / increase answers to the question: for how much number A fits into number B if copared (related to) 1. Actually this is aslo answer to a question "why" we want to show this percentage decrease / increase. I'd love to see introduction to this film explaining how people compare numbers. Subtraction is only a part of answer, because it doesn't help us to build a scale. Division brings lacking concept of scale. If we're able to subtract and scale, then we feel comfortable. Actually it is what was shown at the beginning of this video. Thanks to above introduction one should be able to derive equation shown at the beginning of this video.

Professor Leonard:

What about this way?

(2.95 - 2.15)/(2.95) = P/100

Let P = percent change

Population Problem

Let ANY VARIABLE = population in ID

I will use x.

215, 000 = 0.13x

215, 000 ÷ 0.13 = x

1, 653, 846.1538461 = x

Round to two decimal places.

1, 653, 846.15 = x

There are 1, 653, 846.15 people in Idaho.
