In Putin’s war on Ukraine, there is no end to the bombing, nor the bloodshed. As civilian casualties mount, Europeans look on in frustration at Western inability to halt the fighting.

NATO is doing all it can to avoid being drawn in. EU members are divided over how far to go with weapons deliveries and sanctions. Today we ask: "As NATO weighs its options: Who can help Ukraine?"

Our guests: Gwendolyn Sasse (political scientist), Markus Kaim (security expert), Wojciech Szymanski (DW)

There should be no end to weapons deliveries to Ukraine’s army and the most extreme sanctions possible on Russia and those who support them.

As a Swede, this conflict has made me so disappointed in countries like Germany and France while nations like Poland and even Britain have gained my respect.

Ukraine must be supported until total victory! Yes, Putin will make threats but then we threaten him back. This is not the time to be afraid. Freedom is not for cowards!

Thanks for this excellent discussion. English is my first language and I really value DW's balanced and intelligent coverage of current events. This channel is superior to any of the British or American news channels which tend to dramatise and oversimplify most issues. Keep up the good work!

I really wish that the various allies would just KEEP THEIR MOUTH SHUT about what they are planning, considering, intending etc!

Give the Ukrainians everything they ask for... ultimately, it's in our (other Europeans) interest. And it's morally right.

My 14 year old son was attacked and had his phone and wallet stolen in broad daylight in a public park while many adults just looked on. He felt more anger towards the onlookers that did not assist than towards his attackers.

Huge respect to Poland. The only country in NATO with courage and demonstration by action, not words.

People should know that sending the jets wasn't even Poland's idea, it was Josep Borrell (the EU foreign policy chief) who came up with the whole thing publicly on 28th feb (you can confirm it easily from whatever source you trust). Poland has responded perfectly in this messy situation as a member of NATO.

HELP is needed in Mariupol, now. Standing by watching this tragedy is as bad as Putin doing it.

Bureaucracy is like a vehicular traffic. Ever minute is magnified x times. Every hour of NATO's hesitancy to help Ukraine, it translate to hundreds of Ukrainian lives. Don't dally, help..

This is like watching a school yard BULLIE having his way & nobody is standing up to him. Who's going to stand up to this bullying?

So sad to see all of the talking & not enough action in stopping the loss of life.

Who can help Ukraine? :: Germany, France and the EU by not buying Russia's oil and gas. But they still do.

DW is rapidly becoming my go to media channel for global political, social and economic content that is clearly neutral in nature and fact based in the age of mis & dis-information.

“Who can help Ukraine?”... When someone has fallen into the sea and drowning, and bystanders decided to spend time discussing who should help the poor chap?

Thanks to the media, we know now that
our guys are fighting for democracy, independence, for own country and for the values we gave them, they are brave, trained and motivated fighters,
their enemy is ruled by a tyrant, who launched an unprovoked and unjustified aggression, who did, do and will do terrible things.
