Ken, you are correct about this method being odd. Using the longest run method for a typical residence probably wouldn't make that much difference but when we get into the larger homes and commercial applications this method would be a waste of material and labor for branches & drops. Using the longest run method for the main line & last drop is absolutely correct but when we are sizing branches and drops along the way we should be using the branch and drop method.
