Solar eclipse 2024: Why is it a big deal? | FOX 7 Austin

We are less than a month away from observing a total solar eclipse over central Texas. Already schools are canceling classes, and several counties have issued disaster declarations because of an expected mass influx of visitors.

Does anyone else remember the solar eclipse in 2017? I distinctly remember they kept saying it's going to be a hundred years before we see another one.

So I am now 49 and have seen some in my lifetime. The issue is most people don't research or try to understand anything....they let the media dictate what to believe. Panicky people can incite danger...a total eclipse can frightened someone who doesn't think easy

I witnessed an eclipse, earthquake and eruption all at the same time during a total eclipse in 1984 and it was super cool. We all brought welding helmets to the State Park we worked ... way back then. I even fit in a quickie from this super cool blonde I worked with, because she wanted to do it during the eclipse and we both came at the same time. Glad she could keep a hold of her ankles during all of this eclipse, /earthquake and eruption at the same time. LOL. Loved it, best eclipse in my life for sure!!!
