That startup, the beeps, the sound it made in reverse, all of it is so nostalgic for me. My dad had a 2000 civic EX, not and SI but damn I loved that civic so so much. It was manual as well. I cried when he sold it and I was about 14. I wanted to drive it in highschool so bad

I know EXACTLY how that interior smells, brings me childhood memories of my dad's civic. Now it's mine ! 350K kilometers later and still stock. Honda never misses.

That double foot tap you did when you got in the car was the ultimate show of respect for such a clean machine.. great video

I love that interior so much. No bs, no screens, just a nice clear gauge cluster, simple buttons for radio and HVAC, grippy cloth seats and fantastic visibility thanks to those tiny pillars.

Old Hondas really are just a different breed. All of them have such a character to them, it’s just a joy to drive any of them.

I love that you mentioned the visibility. The visibility in these cars as well as the hatchbacks are insanely good. You don’t even need side mirrors cause you can see everything with the one rear view mirror in the car.

A true example of a car with character and proof that you don't need all the power to enjoy it. Truly one of my favorite cars of all time, only ever owned EX and LX 6th gen Civics myself but an SI was always sought after.

It's insane one of these still exists in this condition, wow.

I didn't know low mileage for this car even still exists! That's super amazing. Definitely one of the best looking Hondas out there

Such a clean example! Extremly difficult to find an example like this. Would love to find one and own one myself someday.

Thanks for this! I had an '00 Si I got to keep for about eight months before it was stolen, found two weeks later "surgically stripped for parts." There was actually a lot not to like about the Si: no ABS and rear brakes that locked too easily, it desperately needed a sixth gear (note it revving near 4500 rpm at 80 mph), gas mileage was never close to the EPA rating, the stereo was so weak you had to crank it to distortion levels just to hear it, and mine was a constant rattletrap (dash, sunroof, rear interior panels, etc.) from day one, surprising for a Honda. But man, every run to the redline was driving nirvana. Not fast by today's standards, but so great to ring out. Even bone stock, it sounded amazing. Plus it had sophisticated front and rear double-wishbone suspension and that great old-school Honda steering and transmission feel. I'd forgotten what it was like--this vid brings back great memories.

it’s the headlights for me, so well kept! feels like this was actually shot twenty years ago.

I had a red 2000 SI and watching this video brings back so many memories. Redlining it in 3rd gear was quite the experience. I can even still smell the interior while watching this.

After going from a 93 Del Sol SI, to an 04 Civic SI hatch, to now a 07 G35 coupe, Honda is calling my name back once again. They just don’t disappoint 😎

I had civic (1999, 1, 8L) for 4 years. Wow, what a car! Amazing dynamic. That sound of VTEC is absolutely like cosmic music! You just always have a smile of pleasure and joy while driving. And always several times I glanced at the car while walking home after driving. Modern cars with all that electronic devices do not give those emotions. CIVIC 1999 - true love!))

This makes me miss my 98 Civic LX so much. Sure it was the non-VTEC but it was a manual, and with a moderate drop and 215 wide sport tires, the thing was an absolute go-kart. I would get beat from a light by minivans, but I didn't care. I was having way too much fun redlining all of the gears! Thanks Topher for making this video, it's total nostalgia!

10:49 You fell in love with how the engine and the shifter felt, lol! Perfect rev matching rowing through the gears, man! 😻

I owned a 1999-2000 Blue 💙 Civic SI just like that one. I traded my 90 Civic SI in on it. Brought it in Brighton, MI. Great car and loved it. The only drawback was that it required premium gas, but it got 28-32 MPG. The last manual shift car I owned. Thanks so much for the drive and review 😎! Truly felt and drove like a Japanese BMW 3 series.
