My mom still has hers. Red, bone stock, garage kept and only 70k miles on it. Sits next to her 2013 Boxster with a manual transmission. She's a cool 70 something lady.

Vtec doesn’t necessarily mean it allows you to rev higher than a “regular” engine. It means you can maintain characteristics of two different types of engines within one motor. You can have lower rpm fuel economy, then when desired you can have high rpm peak power. Think of it like having an old school turbo which kicks in late. This is because the cam profile can change on the fly aka variable.

I've had this car since 2007, and still driving it every day. Only 127k miles; bought it with 83k. It's showing its age, but I still get compliments.

I absolutely loved this car.. I wish i could buy a new one now.. They were REALLY light weight, got great MPG, and were a lot of fun to drive. This car was so good to drive, you left the phone home..

Wow I am blown away on how clean that SI is. Such low mileage... a real cherry!

The Vtec system wasnt new, what was new is that this motor used DOHC WITH Vtec. USDM Civics had vtec systems for years prior

This was my starter car in need for speed. Ive always wanted one since then but I found the people who own these do not wanna let them go.

Even in this day and age this car was ahead of its time.

I'm the proud owner of a 89 Dx CRX with a b16 swap, the 99Si is a gem because of the motor.
If only Honda gave us the CRX, or EF and EG's with the b16'a in the states.. I've owned over a dozen Honda's in the last 20 years. I've done lots of swaps and modded many, many old 90's Honda's and Acura's. I won't ever claim my b16 crx to be "fast" But I will scream at the top of a hill to say "its a blast to drive."
1, 900lb car, Cable clutch, Manual Steering rack. No ABS, No Traction Control. Just a LSD Diff, short gears and a 8, 200rpm red line, 175hp out of a 1.6L NA fwd 4cyl.
H.O.N.D.A.= "Hold On, Not Done Accelerating" ... V.T.E.C. = "Virtually Torque less Engine Compartment"

It was amazing at 5300rpm+ and the cam lobe shift of the VTEC was so much fun. I had this car a long time ago. Fantastically fun at the time.

Theft magnet though.

What i loved most about this car was the sound. Paid 2k in 2009. Great on gas or quick when you want it to be and an almost endless path for mods.

I still own a 2000 EBP Si that I bought new from Honda. While it isn't my daily driver anymore, oh what a ride it was/is. It has tasteful modifications, including red SPARCO Torino seats, 17" Enkei RF-1's, RS*R cat-back exhaust, and Neuspeed lowering springs. Oh yeah, it has a Jackson Racing Supercharger too. Fun fact: the 145mph speedometer (vs. the 120mph found in the lower trims) isn't for gimmick. Near red-line in 5th gear, the speed tops out at 145mph in real life. Unfortunately my Honda doesn't run at the moment, but one day it will cruise again.... or i'll use it as my coffin. Either way, it's unlikely to be sold/traded.

Saving up for one, or at least a nice and clean EX.

Personal my favorite civic, and in my opinion 2000 were the last civics made.

Must fun car I’ve owned! For prospective the Chevy Silverado v8 had 170hp at the time. The car truly had a split personality

I like how they were named SIR in Canada.
