Let’s Talk About Dating a Widow or Widower.

I think there’s some good common sense here that will help people who are dating someone who is not just out of a long-term relationship or divorced because someone chose to leave but they are getting to know and dating someone who lost a partner. If you are dating a widow or widower or have a friend who is experiencing a new relationship with someone who lost a partner to death. I encourage you to share this with your friend. I guess it all depends on how the wife died ; some men are in the middle of a divorce when the wife passes away so aren’t in love with her ; that’s a whole different ballgame . Depends on the age of the children too and how the wife died …

I have been a widower just over 3 years ago and I have met a widow we have dating 2 to 3 months. We get on very well and we can discuss about our deceased partners in which both partners died of Cancer. We are determined not to be miserable with life and look forward. It seems to me people think if you have been windowed that you are miserable all the time. Ok we have been through a lot with looking after them in there dieing days we can get on with life but we can never forget.
The only thing is worrying me is that my partners partner died only a year ago is this long enough but I am here for her.

I unexpectedly/suddenly lost my wife of 20 years just 14 months ago. I doubt that I'll ever date again (that 'til death do you part' thing doesn't compute) but if I did a widow would be a plus to me, she could understand things about the situation that are hard for me to put into words.
