This episode, we explore 10 component upgrades for the board game Forbidden Island.

Forbidden Island is a great entry-level game that’s more than capable at building tension while still being accessible - making it my personal best gateway game of choice.

The meeples/minis from the german version look like straight out of a nightmare.

Today I just applied some Rub n Buff on my Forbidden Island and Forbidden Desert pieces and then did the ink wash and dry brush you suggested. They look great! I would not to have thought to do any of it if not for this video. Thanks Chaz!

Somes empty tiles (only water) to put in the place of the removed tiles???

Relatedly, I use the Stonemaier water tokens to track water rather than the plastic clip in Forbidden Island.

That water level component upgrade was awesome! Gotta agree on that tin box though. I had to make sure to put a rubber band around mine, the box kept opening up and I almost lost some pieces one time. You can always play the virtual version if you can't afford that fancy tile holder setup. ;) Gotta have a big tablet though..

As a counter point, I played Fury of Dracula 3rd Edition last night and had so much trouble descerning between the small unpainted minis which was my character, that I would have loved a couple of clear painted pawns to be able to descern between the characters, which is a thought I actually had numerous times throughout the game.

As for island misalignment - just spread the tiles out, they don't have to be that close to each other. Much cheaper and better with alternative setups, which are the biggest strength of this game.

We already have the meeplesource needles. Now my son wants to paint the treasuries. Great video as always.

Great video Chaz. We now use lego peple for characters and my kids love it! My 7 year old daughter and I were playing the other day and she went to use her last move to re-flip a tile to it's sunken side - a total Chaz hidden-traitor "Citadel of Time"-move there :)

I want to check out that water meter component upgrade out further. Very cool. Do you have a link to it?

Do studio twin games generally deliver to the US or did you have to special request. Not reading french well its hard to tell.

If you're lucky enough, you can go to your local Lego Store and try to source a set of minifigs from there, for 9.99 USD for a set of 3 (20 for 6, which will cover the game). Luck comes into play for what Torsos, legs, Hats/hair, and Accessories are available.

I have an theory why Germany is the only Country with this special figurines, because I've heard Germany has the biggest Market for Board games in the world!

I think he needs to find something to replace the plastic inside of the metal tin.

Nice episode. You have inspired me to add the treasures to my ever-growing list of things to paint. As an added note. I hate metal boxes with a passion. These precarious pods of component pandemonium, leave one perplexed as to the publishers packaging preferences. Which leaves me to ponder the potential possibilities of other packaging prospects. A cardboard container component conversion is now a critical concern. It's now on the list of crap I will most probably never do.

'Lego' style mini figs are easily & cheaply accessible from Aliexpress.com - around 75 cents to $1.00 per fig or could always use more expensive metal figs from pulpfigures.com...

WOW! Going to buy a tone of Lego figures now.
