Chromebook - Reinstall the Chrome OS

How to restore the Chromebook to factory defaults.

I've done all the steps and again it showed the same thing as it did before 😐😐.... What should i do???

For all those that say it doesn't work. I was having the issue over and over where it would say the security module was not found (8-10 Times). I moved my USB drive to a different port and BOOM! recovery started! Hope this helps!

My screen won't stay up long enough for me to read the instructions. As soon as i turn on the screen it pops up for a second then goes to a black screen again

Did not work. It went to a black screen instead after restarting and did not show the ''Your system is transitioning to developer'' message.

After I did ctrl + D and hit enter for the chromebook to reboot after it rebooted it still addressed that chrome os was missing

Thank you so much, I watched other videos and it only lead to my chromebook restarting over and over non stop this video helped me stop that I may have had to login and add the stuff I had on my chromebook back to it but at least I can use my chromebook.

When I don’t press the space button my computer just starts beeping then returns back to the missing / damage page

At the point where your system is preparing for is developer mode and goes back to the place where your suppose to press space don’t press space just wait a few more seconds it’ll then go to the screen where you set your chrome book up.

If your's doesn't work, hold ESC, reload button, and power button. Then try ctrl + d.

hi i just had a quick question i have a hard time to try and do a hard reset on my dell chromebook. i follow step by step on the internet and i got stuck and it says (network not available) but wifi is connected and takes long time to do whatever needs to be done. and also when i try to sign in as existing user and it my password still won't let me get in. any suggestion and wonder how many times they will let u restore the chromebook if that happens thank you.

Holy crap it worked!!!! THABK YOU!!! I'm back to my screen- everything is how it was before!!! I got really nervous when I saw the top comment said this turns on developer mode (I don't really know what exactly that means) but I bought this computer off of Amazon less than a week ago and just today it did this thing where it wouldn't go past the white chrome screen
The indicator light was blue and not blinking. I can't tell you how many times I have tried to fix broken phones, tablets and laptops over the years from youtube videos and this was the first time it ever worked and this was even my first attempt!!! I'm so worried now though I scared to touch it again. What happened?? Why did it do this in this first place? I think it did an update yesterday. Maybe that was it.
No matter. It's working now at least THANK YOU SO MUCH?!!
