The year is 1894, and the small provincial town of Zatonsk has calmed down after the ominous events that occurred in the first season. Anna Mironova has also lost her gift of communication with spirits. But one day the spirits return, as does Yakov Shtolman, who had mysteriously disappeared before. A gloomy shadow now looms over Zatonsk again, as more brutal murders start to shake the town and its citizens. Anna and Shtolman team up to fight the criminals and bring them to justice. Will they be able to revive their love and find happiness?

A wonderful movie with good actors and a script! This is a story that we must not forget.

Anton Andreivich and Polina are just too adorable and precious together, I love this relationship development and please let them be happy together. Thank-you to Polina for telling Anton to not value himself so low, he needed to hear that and I've been screaming that since season 1. Anton taking a moment outside to process the horror of what Polina was subjected to, and then coming right back to her was so pure I cannot even begin to describe it. He not only put aside the fact that she was a "tainted/unpure" (not a virgin) woman, but also recognized that she was the victim of abuse, and that it wasn't her fault. I don't think for a second that he would abandon her for this. You can see in his face when he steps outside that he's not struggling to forgive her or trying to run away, he's struggling to comprehend the horror of what she went through and he doubts for a split second whether he's strong enough to protect her. And Polina breaking into tears at him leaving is her small hope of him forgiving her breaking into pieces. But then her relief and shock when he does come back and embrace her is so beautiful. Top notch acting from both actors.
It would've been so rare in this era for a man to forgive an unmarried woman's transgressions with another man (regardless of whether she was forced or not, because it didn't really count in that era), but the fact that he does and acknowledges that she isn't to blame for being abused is so beautiful. Honestly, there are not many men even these days who would think as he did and do what he did. His action completely fits his character. Well done Anton Andreivich, you are the best man. Where do I get myself an Anton Andreivich??
Aleksey finally confessing to Anna's mum was hilarious!
This episode was just filled with love and confessions from everyone other than our main couple. Super sweet and a nice breath of fresh air.

Great to have the rest of season two with subtitles but the running order is mixed up, if you click on episode 26 you get episode 40

Boy do I hate Anton Andreivich for the first time I actually though he was an honest cop but he is selfish like all other men judge and jury and not doing as ordered and betraying his friend.

many times Anna's character is unbearable. Shtolman has a difficult, eventful past, and rare qualities like dedication to work. Things she was craving for, in her provincial life, before she met him. All worthy aspects of her life are due to him, even putting her 'gift' to good use. but every now and then she reverts back to her little miss personality, seeking the prim wedding and settled marriage, like her provincial peers.the over the top plot device of making her a doctor in 1890 has neither made her more professional, nor consistent.her doctor colleague turned out to be the one character who treats her rihgt.all the others indulge her too much. while she has benefitted from her association with schtolman, she has only imposed her rotten secondary admirers and their duels and ensuing threat to life on him.she takes the 'deception ' at face value, knowing that there may be so many reasons, constraints why he cannot explain 'your spouse sends you greeting' incident. thanking the rotten apple for 'saving her honour', indeed. cant wait to see how badly her 'saviour' is going to betray her. but of course all of it adds to the drama of the shtolman has to rush in and save her from dangerous situations which she recklessly wander into, plus, he has to take bullets from the admirers she gathers around herself,
