MR. Organic Chemistry Tutor, thank you for another awesome video/lecture on Solving Equations in Quadratic Form Using Substitution in Algebra Two. Substitution is a powerful tool in all level/phases of Mathematics.

Thank you for putting this out there. It was the eighth power problem you explained the solution process for that was hugely helpful. I knew the answers, but it was the solution process that was puzzling me. Very well presented!

All of your work is amazing. I passed chemistry because of your amazing lectures and it seems like I'm going to pass math the same way. However, I am confused when it comes to the homework I am given. For example, they want us to use substitution followed by the quadratic formula. Suffice to say, things get very confusing very fast.

This video taught me so much but I am very confused on how the square root of x cant be -6, but in a later example x^1/3 could be -2. isnt x^1/3 the same thing as the cube root of x? so cube roots of x can equal a negative number but not square roots right?

when i check the solutions to the problem at 4:35 i keep getting that -1/2 doesn't work. i checked it on my phone calculator and on the google calculator. but when i do it by hand, it does work. by hand i got:
-.5^-2 - -.5^-1 -6 = 0
1/(-.5^2) - 1/-.5 -6 = 0
1/(.25) - -2 -6 = 0
4 + 2 - 6 = 0
it works out when i do it by hand but I've tried multiple calculators and it comes out to -8. they can't all be handling negative exponents wrong... right?
organic chemistry dude, can you please try it on the google calculator and tell me if I'm crazy? make sure the solutions do work?
thanks for all your videos
