Have you ever asked what do you need to have a pet turtle? These are 10 things EVERY turtle keeper needs...and maybe #3 is not that shocking but it sounds funny so I put it in the title anyway 😂 Before you get a turtle, you'll obviously need some supplies – like a tank, a filter, a basking area, etc. This video is to help make sure you have the main essentials to care for a turtle. This is not a comprehensive turtle care guide, but hopefully a helpful tool that covers the basics. Links to all the things mentioned are below (affiliate)!

Tank - Get it at the dollar per gallon...don't buy it online lol
Feeding Tub - Just get it at Walmart or target xD or find a suitable tupperware!

Huge thanks to all my current patrons for allowing this channel to be the best it can be!

Good timing. We saved/hatched a red eared that a crow was about to eat. He doesn’t have a proper setup. Providing heat is the current issue. You’ve been a big help.

Love your videos. I rescued a freshly hatched red eared slider from my yard last month. He had lost an eye some how and the wound had fly strike. I spent 2 hours removing the fly larvae and really didn’t expect him to make it, but with a cold front coming thru I thought “warm and dead” was better than cold and dead. It’s been about six weeks and he is thriving. The wound healed well, he finally started to eat, and his swimming has gotten so strong! His shell even appears to be growing. I had planned to over winter him and release to my dads pond in spring, but with only one eye his depth perception appears affected. Sometimes it takes him several tries before he’s able to grab his food. I have no experience with aquariums or turtles, but I’m learning and making improvements. I’ve found I really enjoy watching him. His name is Wink ;)

Tubs/totes work better for me I found because I don't have to clean it as often as a glass aquarium and they are more fun because they more so resemble a natural pond.

I currently own a baby yellow bellied slider and she lives in a stock tank that will soon house a tortoise but she loves it and I live near a creek so I found thing around it (of course I made sure to clean it well) and I put decor in her tub and she loves it and I find he all the time in leaves

Great video! I love the timer suggestion and they are def. a must have! I have my lights on a VeSync smart plugs so I can control all of them with an app. It saves me so much headaches. I also have my adult common musk in a 40 gallon breeder with an FX4 canister like yours. She does not seem to want to bask anymore though. She used to do it when she was younger but now I never see her up there on the platform.

Things I have:
Filter
Basking Area
Food
Things I don't have:
Decor
Feeding Box
Heat lamps and UVB bulbs
timer
I just realized, all the things I don't have are not needed since my enclousure is outdoors and it's never winter in my area.
P.S. I don't put decorations cause I have fish that are shortsighted that lives with my turtle and I don't want it to lose another eye

I know you might think my question is silly. Could hatchlings get indigestion? What happened was I took out my hatchling from the tank and fed her in a separate container while I cleaned the tank. When I placed her back after a few hours the feeding machine dropped food in her tank because I forgot to reset it. I think she ate most of the food before I could scoop them out. My hatchling had been defecating so much but the stool was normal. She did not eat for three days after that.
