2024 Kia Picanto Review: a cracking small car

The Kia Picanto is one of only a handful of city cars that remain on sale today. It has been facelifted for 2024 with a revised look that's designed to help it stand out from rivals such as the Hyundai i10 and Toyota Aygo X, all while retaining its low price and all-round appeal.

In this CarGurus UK review, Chris Knapman gets behind the wheel of the updated Picanto to see if it still holds appeal for those seeking a smaller and simpler kind of car.

Love the new styling and lights. We have a 2019 with the red highlights and it's been an absolute gem to drive and own. These are so well put together and drives like a charm. Highly recommended.

They shouldn't have got rid of the 1.0T 99 BHP it's a nice little car.

We recently ordered the Picanto in Melbourne Australia. It's the base fat tyre auto model in green for a comfortable ride. A great second car.

It's a great little car I prefer the one with more power by your video. My brother has the old model version one. So his laques quick movement but he loves it personally ❤ though.

Looks good, and with 7 year Kia warranty would be a no brainer for those who want worry free motoring.

1:54 "There's no bargain basement trim offered"

How is that not a glaringly obvious problem for anyone?

Gosh it looks awesome compared to the EV9, it really works, but I would love the turbo to be available 😊

Not sure Kia will push these much unless they meet the 22% EV target easily so deals might not be the best.
No turbo 1.0 which is criminal when you have GT trim.

Historically the A segment has never been profitable and, with higher safety/emissions standards, most companies have left the segment.

65bhp?! This sort of power would have been good in the 80s. Now with the cars being so full of equipment and quite "fat" that figure will get you to 60MPH in the same time you make yourself a cup a tea 😂.

5:36 very frugal? Upwards of 40mpg? The car industry is a joke. With incentives and competition, we’d easily be getting 80mpg city cars by now. Suzuki made a 70mpg 1.0l Dualjet engine, but stopped making it because no one was interested. They’d rather have a less efficient car and just complain at the price of fuel. Now the manufacturers are being forced to sell electric cars and everyone is worried about range, they’re suddenly all competing to make the most aerodynamic car possible. Where was that competition for the combustion engine?

Without an EV or Hybrid. No excuses to not provide the simple option to make small cars more attractive and sustainable

There's more power in a Dyson Hand Held vacuum cleaner than this have kept the 1.0

Definitely needs a 1 liter turbo engine.
