Man this show was on another level, the maturity of it. Very realistic that Katara, although she let him live, she never forgave him.

“Forgiveness is the first step you have to take to begin healing”.

Katara didn’t forgive the killer, but we know he didn’t deserve it. But she did forgive Zuko and we can agree that was more needed.

Aang: Violence is never the answer

Zuko: No, it is the question. And you’ll need an answer when you face my father.

Zuko and Aang learn the true essence of firebending, helps to rescue their father and Suki from the boiling rock, helps to get Katara some closure, and helps set Aang up on his impending confrontation with Phoenix King Ozai. Team Avatar needed Zuko more than they initially realized.

It really just goes to show you that the message was you don’t have to forgive those who hurt you and cause you great pain but that shouldn’t stop you from moving on with your life

Katara and Zuko's friendship really was top tier. It developed and grew and had history and true respect and care.

Zuko earned the forgiveness from Team Avatar and his redemption story is one of the best, if not the best in animated TV history.

Yon Rha killing Katara’s mother just proves that you can never escape the sins of your past and eventually they’ll catch up to you

Her saying she forgives zukp was so satisfying and emotional. Like all those years of watching them try to kill each other lead to that moment.

1:09 that part always shocked me cause of the implication of it. Aang is all about peace, pacifism and no killing but since he’s the Avatar, what will it mean for his people when he kills the Firelord?

None of us deserves forgiveness, but we can receive it as a gift.

She had him served on a silver plate: She had infinite ammunition with rain, he was completely defenseless, not even a single witness around, zero consequences, and she was still able to stop herself from doing such an horrible thing.

Katara was strong, too strong. I'm not sure what I would do in that situation.

Katara was always the most morally pure member of Team Avatar, and she was aware of it. That's why she distrusted Zuko for longer than the others did. But here, she is coming to terms with how she's capable of doing horrible things, such as bloodbending, lashing out at Sokka for trying to talk her out of her mission, and nearly killing a defenseless man. She recognized the darkness in herself, and that's why she forgave Zuko.

Trust me, its harder to forgive person who destroy part of your life than person who hurt you

Scar may heal, but some may leave a mark

Katara: “I forgive you”
Zuko: (witness to rain turned into a dome and then millions of icicles, as well as blood bending and the near death of a man by her pent up rage) *thinking* ‘The last thing I want to think about is the concept of procrastinating from betraying my father any longer than I did’

It’s not that killing the man would make her no better than him because that’s bs. It’s that it wouldn’t have brought her closure or justice, but a dark empty feeling in her chest.

Zuko: violence wasn’t the answer

Aang: it never is

Zuko: Then I have a question for you…….what are you gonna do when you face my father

The way he caught her, the way she shoulder hugged him, the way their eyes locked as Zuko watched her walk off into the distance… Ugh why didn’t we get zutara 😭

Aang: "You need to forgive your mother's killer."

Katara: "I hear he killed monk Gyatsu, too."

Aang: *Avatar State Yipp Yipp*
