The Power of Persuasion with Robert Cialdini, the godfather of influence. Cialdini’s latest research shows that the secret to persuasion doesn’t lie in the message itself, but in the key moment before that message is delivered. He explains that the best persuaders spend more time crafting what they do and say before making a request. Cialdini calls this pre-suasion. In other words, to change minds most effectively, a pre-suader must change initial “states of mind.”

Hm...then let's say that I'm a first year teacher who knows fully well how the brain works and how I could use "persuasion" to get my students to behave. If I approach a naughty, misbehaving student after class, will the chances of me persuading him to behave in class rise if I end the class in a good note (e.g show them a movie for the last 15 minutes of the class, or end class early)?

This is a really interesting concept and will most likely aid in my study of human psychology.

A communicator who can change what I am paying attention to (flowers) in a particular moment can change *who I am* at that moment (a romantic)

Men are more likely to retrieve a woman's phone number from 4 intimidating guys if prior the woman has asked a man for directions to Valentine's street instead of Martin's street.

Another example: A handsome man compliments a lady in the mall and then gives her his phone number to arrange a date later. More women gave their phone number to the man if they were near a flower shop than if surrounded by various shops.
