What Is Written in the Talmud? | Unpacked

Показать описание
The layout of the Talmud, one of the most important Jewish texts, has remained virtually unchanged since its earliest days in print. This layout reveals a compelling look at Jewish values. What part did Daniel Bomberg - a Christian printer in Venice play in its publication, what’s behind the concept of “daf yomi” (reading a page of Talmud a day) and why has the Talmud’s graphic design not changed for generations?

The title of this video is misleading. You told us nothing of what is written in the Talmud. The vagueness in this video is odd and suggests there's something to hide. Not one example of an actual passage for us to gain some understanding of the culture.

I read that one Rabbi said: "If the Gentiles knew what we teach about them (in the Talmud) they would hunt us down and kill us." A great introduction to this religion is the book" The Talmud Unmasked".

Those CONFUSED WHITE PEOPLE are NOT JEWISH - they are KHAZARS & ZIONISTS who's parents, grand parents & great grandparents ARE from Poland & Germany. Within Judaism, there's a distinction between being ethnically Jewish (having ancestry from the Jewish people) and being a convert to Judaism (someone who chooses to follow the Jewish faith). I am Dominican - born in the Bronx, New York. I was raised Catholic. I took my Ancestry DNA in 2018 and discovered I was genetically Jewish. Then everything I read and studied about the 12 Tribes of Jacob, invasion of the Assyrians through the North and how the rest of the tribes escaped through the SOUTH and into Africa, years later came the Trans-Atlantic slave trade and so on. Negroes, Hispanics and Native Americans are the modern day descendants of ancient Israelites.

"Reading one page a day" - the right word is learning one page a day.

A detail swept under the rug: there are actually _two_ Talmuds, the Talmud Bavli (Babylonian Talmud) and the Talmud Yerushalmi (Jerusalem Talmud, also called the Palestinian Talmud). They're both written in Aramaic, but different dialects: the Bavli is written in Eastern Aramaic and the Yerushalmi is written in Western Aramaic, which are so different they can almost be called different languages.

The tosafists often dispute the opinion of Rashi. Also, whereas Rashi attempts to give a concise explanation of the text, the tosafists are more concerned with resolving additional questions or resolving apparent contradictions between different statements in the Talmud.

Tossed out of hundreds of places throughout time.

The explanation is that these expulsions happen for no reason whatsoever and they have always been unfairly persecuted.

The reasonable explanation is that these expulsions happen because behavior becomes intolerable to their host.

We are living through a modern iteration of this historical pattern

Correction to 2:50: Maimonides never wrote a commentary to the Talmud, Nachmanides did. Maimonides did comment on the Mishna though.
