Love the walking video! George looks happy. The finger print analogy is excellent!

I totally agree. We are all quite different. But, in all honesty, I’m much more interested in the things many of us have in common. I love researching all of the similar quirks this vast spectrum manages to bring out in a large percentage of our diverse community. I’m especially fascinated by the lesser known traits such as many of us tend to wear dark clothing, usually black or dark grey. Similarly, lots of us don’t realize how dark we normally keep our houses until someone new shows up and rudely opens our curtains and blinds. Many of us have significant sensory problems triggered by loud noises, yet also find complete silence troubling due to having tinnitus. We tend to drown out both of these annoyances by listening to loud music that we have control over, likely something very complex and technical, such as progressive metal, classical, EDM, etc….

Sadly, since joining several autistic groups on social media the past few years, I’ve noticed that it’s hard to talk about our similarities with each other. My theory is that we have to spend so much time explaining our autistic differences to neurotypicals that we somehow forget that autism-related channels and groups are full of people who understand the struggles of having a brain that’s wired differently than almost every other person we encounter in our real lives. I used to be an Admin in a few FB groups and repeatedly tried starting threads on such topics. I’d typically get no replies other than 5-7 people giving me slightly different versions of the famous “once you’ve met one person with autism, you’ve met one person with autism” quote 🤷🏻‍♂️.

That's why I don't tell anyone. People jump to conclusions and make assumptions, and nobody ever asks what it's like or what I experience. I just worked for 4 hours at the end of a 14 hour day, and now I'm crying into a plate of meat patties because I hit the wall 2 hours ago and didn't have what it takes to make dinner, but I made it anyway. That's what it's like. 😂

Nice to see you out with your dog. 🙂

Hi mate love your dog nice
To see you outside I dont know about you dogs are so much better my dog Venus has saved my life the closest thing to accept us. Anyway back to your comment yes I get that alot example I know someone with autism and no we are not the same as they think autism is the same just to cheer up nothing finger print is the same like cosmic star dust no stars are the same so in reality we are unique in that sense.

When people say to me, “Oh you’re autistic? I have a relative who is autistic!” I like to say, “Really, do they have skin? Me, too! We should totally be friends.”
