Ruth is a type of us Gentiles being graft in. Amazing, graceful God.

If Ruth is a type of the grafted in people then it's fitting.

Currently doing a study of Ruth. I appreciate his take on how God used a Moabite woman for His purpose and His glory! Her story is His story❤

For me this is proof that there is no cursed lineage as long as they seek the Lord. The lineage of Jesus has Tamar, Rehab (a Canaanite), and Ruth (a Moabite).

God, indeed, does not look at our ancestry. What He wants from us is our heart focused on Him.

She was already in isreal because she had married in to isreal already. Boaz did the right thing by being the redeemer of the family

Women listed in the genealogy: Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba, and Mary. There's plenty of foreigners and scandalous tales. It's almost as if Matthew was highlighting the fact.

Ruth 1:16

[16]But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and YOUR GOD WILL BE MY GOD.

The book of Ruth is the first time we see the Gael in scripture, the Kinsman Redeemer. The whole book is a Type for our redemption through messiah, the promises of God to Israel and our grafting into Israel. One of the most beautiful books of the OT and it has Jesus all over it.

She had already pledged herself and her life to Israel via Naomi, so...

Didnt Ruth promise to follow her mother in law, to take her as her own mother and her God as her own? If she did then she would be an example of the gentiles who are adopted into Gods chosed people right?

Why is this complicated? Ruth surely knew what the Israelis believed about God from her Mother -in-Law. She declared
that God would be her own.
She put action into that declaration by going to Israel.
She was a believer, no longer
the pagan that God had warned about. And God commanded acceptance of the believing foreigner who loved Him.

Ruth was a foreshadowing of the gospel being spread to the gentiles. Typologically a gentile like Ruth was necessary in Jesus bloodline to show how all nations have always belonged to God and how only Jesus was able to redeem them all back to Himself.

And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:

God shows that, ultimately, Israel is a spiritual nation, not ethnic.

We are trying to interpret scripture from our perspective rather than the perspective of those who lived it, that’s where the actual ‘violation’ occurs. From our perspective Ruth is and always will be a Moabite, from their perspective she had already married an Israelite man once and this overruled her Moabite heritage in that community. By the time she even crosses paths with Boaz, the community and the law for that matter would place her as an Israelite widow who is still capable of having children rather than a foreign Moabite. An Israelite widow has a different set of rules to follow. If her husband dies and an unmarried relative of the husband is old enough she marries him and the first child they make is considered the child of her first husband. I know we know that’s not how genetics works but that’s how the laws worked.

Yeah, and Rahab is in Jesus line and she was a pre-conquest Canaanite...so...

Gentiles are weaved into the story of Israel for a reason. All humanity can be blessed through that lineage which is gentile and Jew
