I'm 73 and have always been opposed to the monarchy. I want us to have an Irish-style presidency with a figurehead president, democratically elected every few years, totally keeping out of politics, just representing the country for ceremonial purposes - entertaining foreign dignitaries, opening new hospitals etc. etc.

I'm a driver and travel all over the uk and have never meet anyone who ever had such elitist snobbery and support for the monarch. Never meet a yank on holiday that cares for royalty nor are they interested in them just watch their youtube videos critisizing them and how vulgar they are with their power and privalage. They have never had a real job or done a days work nor does putting names on some so called charity (PR STUNT) qualify. There are also no business brands in britain equal to royal mail that can servive with a pointles crown to fix there problems. Rafe Heydel-Mankoo always has the most inane and contrived arguments. Graham is absolutely right it is a very loud and powerful minority who shout the most while the majority apathetically couldnt care less for Charles or his recent PR drive.
