BBC World Service: Monarchy or Republic? The Queen at 90 - Debate with Rafe Heydel-Mankoo

On The Queen's 90th Birthday (21 April 2016), BBC World Service invited Rafe Heydel-Mankoo, historian and a trustee of the Canadian Royal Heritage Trust, and Graham Smith, Executive Director of the Republic pressure group, to debate whether the Commonwealth Realms -- such as the UK and Canada -- should remain monarchies or become republics.

UK republicans have to remember the Commonwealth Realm. As an Australian the Queen of England is still the head of state, in my country and others. If they ask for the UK to become a republic they would put that on other countries, without their say. They also have to take this into account, which they never do. They only ever see it as a UK debate
