Ive worked on 30k sqft houses that were built like absolute trash, cheap materials, half ass work and all. These days if you are building a house be involved, show up to the job site daily because the builders will cut corners if they can.

Looks like they cleaned ditchs out and dump it there

If I recall correctly, the full video explains it was landfill soil. Had trash and bit of garbage all in it.

This is why you have to watch everyone nowadays.I'm a tile contractor and I expect the homeowner to watch me because I will educate them

But that's the problem, you don't know who the right contractor is. You can get all of the references you want, and still get completely screwed. And then you have absolutely no recourse. And you end up having to pay twice because now you have to pay someone else to do the job again.

I worked for a construction company for awhile doing dirt work and that stuff is straight garbage. We used select fill from a pit in Montgomery, Tx. That was the best stuff i ever used. It could rain 1 day and 2 days later it was dry as a bone.

This looks like the crap we would haul out before bringing in select fill.

I know a southern home when i see one. Homeboy dug his neighbor a pond on the low for the free dirt lmao

If you wanted to: mix that clay up with some regular white bags of lime. Mix it up really good and that Clay will go back like cement. You might consider doing that at the bottom of the footing anyway.

Looks like they have a natural spring or high ground water saturating the clay. Find it drain or divert it away. It'll harden like cement. Hopefully

A lot of construction companies are looking for places to dump extra dirt. It's going to be clay and it's probably going to take several months for it to settle in. And that's with good

I work in property management. We just had some high winds and the siding got ripped off and kept on peeling across the building.. They used 1 3/4 through siding, foam and the slate underneath and not sure if they found 1 stud. I am sure the owner got a great price on the job though.

That’s why you pay for a geotechnical engineer. The 5k upfront will save you 250k later on.

Yeah, that's the tricky part about construction, especially if you don't personally know anyone. Hopefully, you'll get it right without having to hurt your pockets! Good luck, brother!

Best stuff if you want it stabilize. You get that nice clean farmland soil and it will end up in the creek bed with your house 😅

😮 from a engineering standpoint i see to often that is why we have testing firms

Consider adding anchors or tiebacks for stability. High quality U type Seawall Retaining Wall or concrete reinforced with rebar.

Looks like clay mixture makes a great foundation hardens like concrete!!!
