Sound from my turbo. It's been doing it for a year and a half now, and it's getting louder.

Something isn't right, and i (and the local garage) don't know what it is.

Had the same, a kind of rushing air sound 2 years ago, since then was very lame to drive, turns out the turbo intake hose was completely split across, whilst it was off i took off the metal EGR union off where it attaches to the turbo, then completely filled up the hot side with mr muscle as it had completely clogged, this brought turbo back to life and revealed the whooshing sound again, turns out the 50mm bore intercooler to EGR valve rubber elbow hose had a dirty great split in it, fixed that and my car is going better than ever, forgot how rapid it is!

One of your pipes is split. It could be an intercooler pipe or one around the turbo.
If it is around the turbo then you should get it fixed ASAP because one day the turbo will blow and could also lead to your engine being destroyed.
I had a similar sound coming from mine and a few months ago my turbo went, but luckily it didn't do any damage to my engine.

Hi, I didn't get this sorted, i did however blow a turbo hose and replacing that didn't sort it. I did however buy a new car a year ago which sorted the issue! The car made the noise for approx 5 years, and 70, 000 miles and it still ran fine.

It could be the turbo boost control solenoid valve, too ...

I have the exact same noise on my focus but I think it is coming from the oil cooler area. I've checked the turbo for play and it seems fine. Any thoughts?

Did you get this fixed?
It sounds like your pipes have split, just like theprisoner and godjp says.
It happened to my 1.8 TDCI around 60, 000 miles. It's also just done it again at 95, 000.
What I'm looking at now is getting stainless steel braided hoses, or at least silicone ones, as the Ford ones are just thick rubber, and hence crap.

Nope, never got it fixed. It's still doing it now 10kmi later.. May have a look at the hoses at some point, cheers!

Did you fix this problem? I have similar sound from my turbo and i don't know how to fix it. I read that the cause could be hole in rubber pipes. Mine rubber pipes in front of engine (this with metal wire) are oily, but i don't see any hole. The sound is only when my engine is warm.

my car has been doing this for a while... can someone tel me if this can make the engine system fault light come on? only no codes are being stored. my car now cuts out on me regardless to what speed but only when it wants to.

my car made this noise for two years before something stopped working..
il let you know when I've sorted it what the problem was..
meanwhile just make sure you have plenty oil in the engine..

Dude did you have your catalytic converter removed? If not, do it as soon as possible. It can sometimes get blocked and cause a turbo faliure as it did to me a few days ago.

Hi,
Did you find the reason why it sounds like that? Mine developed this noise some time ago I can can't figure it out why.
I've been told there might be splits in some hoses (especially the short, L shaped one), but the previous owner replaced it with a silicone one which is fine.
Thanks,

Do you know what was the reason of the sound? I have very similar sound and also only when motor is warm. Garage fixed my turbocharger and is a bit better, but not 100% good. All was checked and seems to be fine.

You got a split turbo pipe . I had 2 go . Stand in front of car driver side it be the bends on the pipes on the left top and bottom left most common
