For your average joe, a dh bike is just a luxury. But, oh what a luxury it is!

Do you need a Downhill bike? No.
Do you wanna have fun in bikeparks with a lot of travel and sending massiv jumps and huck the hardest trails pretty fast? Yes.

Do you need a DH bike? Nah.

But you know you want one so just do it 😎

Ah, so the enduro is better. What, oh the DH is better. What's that? Oh, the enduro is the better choice? Wait a sec, ah no the DH is actually the better option. What was that again? Oh...…..

Well I ride hardtails. Because I can't afford a full sus.

I reckon the bikes will be based on what gradient your trails are, and how technical/hard they are.
If you have lots of uphill and flat trails with fun jumps and tech then get an enduro bike
If you have lots downhill trails with big jumps and lots of tech then get a dh bike.
Simple!

you should remove the loud music so we can hear the trail :)

The best bike is the one you have... the search for the ephemeral quiver killer carries on. Appreciated the science on this one!

Nice comparison, so far I’ve only ridden a dh bike and it has slowed me down only in the uphill sections but if you don’t mind walking or riding slower uphill it doesn’t really matter what bike you buy/have✅😉

Love the analysis mate! Unlike you though I ride my Capra 100% of the time in bike park (even in street riding once in a while!) ..though our bike park are a bit different on the East Cost than West Cost. That being said, even if I ride my Capra 80% and I fucking love it, I still need a DH bike....why? Freakin Mont-Ste-Anne! 170mm of travel is not even close of being enough to ride the double black on that mountain aha

Good video and I agree with your conclusion (and understand why you used that trail) but I would say something like Mystery DH/Meat Sweats/Jersey Shore on Cypress, 19th Hole in Squamish, PhD in Pemberton or a Garbo tech lap in Whistler would be a better comparison :) mostly cuz I want the DH bike to win haha.

I love how the Capra has Code brakes (DH brakes) and the Tues has Guides (Trail/Enduro brakes).

There's just something about dual crowns and solid bolted handlebars of the DH bike that gives me more confidence and less hassle.
It also helps that the local trail is mostly steep descent, so I don't really care much for the uphill capabilities.

All around great edit! I came to watch the footage of the Capra because I just bought one. I stayed because I was highly entertained!

I like to have a DH and a trail bike because I think the bike park hammers my trail bike way more, so my DH is my hammer bike to preserve my trail bike for trails. Plus the DH is just fun to ride

That's interesting... I have the same 2 bikes! '17 Tues and '19 Capra 29! I have them both because you simply cannot pedal uphill with the Tues. They're both loads of fun and both excel in certain areas. If you could only have one, the Capra is much more versatile, but nothing takes the rough, double black trails at Silver Mtn. Bike Park better than a DH bike.

Nice video!

I had a DH bike for 3 years. Never rode it because I didn’t have time to goto the bike park and the trails near me require up mountain travel. Got a bike that I can ride uphill but still a lot of travel for a single crown fork.

Keep that shit up.

As a kid, my friends and I struggled with DH bikes for years. I don't know how we did it. We rode miles and miles and miles of trails, pushing our bikes up hills for hours on end.. Enduro bikes really are a god send..

I had a DH bike. Sold it for a 160/170 27.5 meta, then sold that for a 19 stumpy evo 29 with 140/160 and I will take the stumpy 100% of the time. It's the fastest bike I have ever owned and it does everything well. And my local riding spot is highland mountain bike park. So take that for what it's worth
