Scientists confirm the biggest bug to ever exist — an ancient millipede "as big as a car"
Prior to the dinosaurs, experts believe that enormous bugs roamed the Earth, or at least northern England.
Scientists have determined that a fossil unearthed in 2018 is that of a gigantic millipede almost 9 feet long and "as huge as a vehicle."
In January 2018, a nearly 29.5-inch-long fragment of the huge creature was discovered in a block of sandstone next to a coastal cliff on the Northumberland shoreline in northern England.
The Arthropleura fossil is only the third of its kind to be discovered, and it is the largest and oldest, according to researchers.
The species is believed to have existed approximately 326 million years ago, more than 100 million years before dinosaurs.
