Lots of comments here says the beetle's distress, but what I see is that it acknowledges as a play of a kind. Look at how it attempts to fly again once the hand is lowered to pick'em up, assumed as if the hand would grab on its horn again. It also doesn't have a right end of the leg. If it was a filmer making that, and clearly giving a stress to the beetle, it would try to fly away, not climbing up on the hand after this "flight."
