This was a really intriguing purchase for me. Typically, the first year of a new model would be a no for me, but having the generator function is an great feature. With all of the recent power outages and bad weather, having a way to power the house, at least some of it, is a huge bonus.

I'll be interested to see if Andre has any issues with the powertrain and generator system in the months and years to come.

I think that was the most logical decision in a sense almost the perfect truck. You're still a bit expensive for me though, but expected with a special order.

I just ordered the full hybrid in a lariat. Could not find what I wanted at a dealer. Got the 6.5 bed, highest inverter, max tow package (20" Wheels!), high version of the co-pilot, FX off road, sport trim. Price was in the low 60's. So say this truck was 10 - 12k more than this XL, If I keep it that many years that only 1k more a year, well worth all the extra feature IMO. Great podcast. I just got rid of my 1998 4runner, cover on the rear differential was literally rusting through and the frame had some rust holes even though it was garage kept a good part of it's life. Something is only good as the weakest part.

Ram E-Torque in the real world was implemented to add stop/start technology on an old engine that was never designed for stop/start. It was much cheaper than designing engines from the ground up like Ford had down with the EcoBoost.

XL is a perfect trim for anyone who grew up with trucks in the late 90's and early 2000's. Has way more tech and features than my previous trucks in near top trims from that era. I kinda fear that I may spoil myself by sitting in a new Platinum as I may want those features too, but without experiencing it I am more than okay with just the "basics" here.

Andre’s truck is perfect. The way Ford styled the f-150 truck is perfect because you can still put Steelies on it and it doesn’t look odd because the styling is a mix between modern and old school. I love it!

With near 25% of that commute on electric, I'd love to see them incorporate a plug so that you can charge it up at home just to help reduce the fuel consumed on those types of shorter trips. I know our old Civic Hybrid was great if you started off with a full charge, but living on the side of the mountain half our trips started with a near empty battery. If you needed to continue up and over the hill to the city, fuel economy would be pretty awful for a hybrid (30-35mpg instead of the rated 45-50).

I’m so glad you picked this truck I do believe this is by far the best vehicle you could’ve picked for your family and I also believe the mileage will improve as your truck breaks in and also Ford will do updates over the air that will improve efficiency on this truck none of the other brands have anything even close to this truck or it’s quality also living in Colorado you must deal with salt and salt means rust I live in South Dakota and as I drive around I see all the other brands rusting in the forwards have zero rust and I’m thankful for that it’s one of the main reasons I bought a 2015 F150 and I have zero rust because the outer body is all aluminum and Ford coats all of their underbelly with a rust preventative unlike GM who just uses a wax coding that does not last

Andre, you overlooked one of your truck's most currently relevant features: BACK-UP POWER to a home during a power interruption. Powerboost F150 Texas owners were all over the news last week about how their trucks helped them survive multiple day blackouts.

That app is handy. My friend had it on his wife's Escape. I had to borrow something from him once, and he just said, "Call me when you get to the car." Then he unlocked it... I grabbed what I needed and he locked it from another town. Awesome.

Excellent choice and color you picked up Andre, once again congrats. The only downside is the headlights, put the full LED upgrade on your list, thats it man.

I wanted the Hybrid but the Ford dealership wont negotiate as much as they would on the 2.7 truck w/the 2kw power option.

I just ordered from my local FORD Dealer:

A loaded XLT. MSRP was $54, 450. Agreed Price $42, 250

Now I'm just waiting the 10wks for delivery of my next work truck.

As many trucks as you try if the Powerboost is good enough for you it's good enough for me. Just picked up a new Powerboost last week. I run about 40k miles a year so I will put it to a good test.
