Scotty hit the nail on the head as usual!
Hybrids make a lot more sense compared to EVs, especially right now.
Hybrids give you the best of both worlds and EVs also cost a TON of money.

I play this game whenever I watch a Scotty video, I take a drink everytime Scotty goes 3 seconds without waving his hands. I'm coming up on 11 years of sobriety because of him.

At last, a true video by Scotty about the hybrid F150. I wanted to see this a lot. Great job Scotty 👍

As an owner of a 2021 f150 hybrid, there's no way in hell you'll get 35 mpg in any situation. Best I got was 27 city (mostly downhill) which is great but the return trip I got 17 (uphill). I do love this truck but let's be realistic. This does not get 24/24. But it's about 20% better in city and 5% better on the highway. Plus you get the awesome generator. It's a great truck!

Mileage depends upon situation. I got 6.5 this morning and my record is 32 MPG over ~40 minutes on I10-I35 north of San Antonio. The circumstances matter a lot. On the highway, wind resistance takes over: if you drive at 63-68 MPH, you will get 23-24 MPG, but if you are willing to draft behind an 18 wheeler, you can get 26-28 MPG. If you drive at 80 MPH, you will get about 18-19 MPG. In the city, for very short trips you will get awful MPG (particularly in winter when it will run the engine to warm up the engine and battery), but for 3-5 mile trips at 25-40 MPH, you can easily get 24 MPG.

Finally, towing, you are NOT going to get 21 MPG. I don't have direct experience with this circumstance yet (I will update this post if I remember), but most folks are reporting mileage that is equivalent to the 3.5L Ecoboost (i.e. 12-15 MPG).

The thing that has impressed me the most is how quiet it is, engine or no. The sound insulation is just chopped foam, so it's almost 100% powertrain engineering that keeps it so quiet.

This is most Ford-friendly commentary from Scotty I have seen in some time. I think Ford WOULD be happy if they watched this.

I have a 21MY F150 with the 7.2KW --and i love it. I tow my 2021 Flagstaff Classic 36' RV trailer with it. Does awesome. Never enjoyed boondocking so much. The 7.2KW power wall exceeds all expectations. Ford nailed it.

Last year during the big freeze in Texas a down the street neighbor ran his entire home for three days off of his hybrid F-150 until the power came on.

Me talking to my wife-"Hey honey, I think we need a back up generator for the house in case the power goes out" Wife-"Good idea, how much will it cost us?" Me-"$72K before taxes."

I’ve had multiple 10spd F150s and the “skip” shift is normal for those trucks. If you select sport mode the truck will use every gear up to 10th when you accelerate from a stop.

Scotty I would take the hybrid over the Lightning any day. I have friends who owned full electric vehicles and they say range anxiety is a PITA.. they moved over to a Prius and are much happier. I'll stick with my Coyote F150 for now. Cheers 🍻

Hi Scotty, The transmission is supposed to skip 2nd or even 4th during normal driving. If you request power via the foot feed, it will shift into those gears. Or - you select "Tow-Haul" or "Sport" mode and it will always use the next sequential gear up or down. Daily mixed driving with at least 50% city highway in the DFW area I'm averaging 22.4mpg since my last oil change about 7500 miles ago. I always leave trip 2 computer alone between oil changes to gauge what the engine is doing. I reset trip 1 every fill-up and can also see the trend move up - down based on my driving habits or fuel blends, E.g. winter blend vs. summer blend. I had better mpg in the summer, somewhere around 22.9-23.2 with the same driving.
And... obviously, it an "Ecoboost" engine with an electric motor so... If you request "Boost", you got it! But along with that comes lots of fuel! This thing will really scoot. Lots of folks don't realize you need to train your truck to drive economically. Do it over a few weeks/fill-ups. If you run like a scalded "you know what" for a few days you will get worse mpg even when you drive relaxed thereafter... until it relearns that you aren't running from the cops.

The benefits of an F-150 along with the improved mpg of a hybrid engine makes this a really neat vehicle.

Loving my 2021 Hybrid. Getting overall 24 mpg's, reliable, onboard power, under 6 sec 0-60. Lots to love.

These were hero's during last years Great Texas Freeze. They can keep the lights and furnace on during a power outage. Having said that I still think I would get a V8 and a Honda generator.

Ford F150 Powerboost is the only true hybrid vehicle in my eyes that totally nailed the concept. It has a combustion engine mated with a electric motor. Has a small battery that is able to power the electric motor to drive the truck for a short distance at lower speeds. Then the combustion engine can take over and recharge the battery while it powers the truck, then repeat. Also the truck can be used as a large generator to power large tools and multiple appliances. Then the truck can turn on combustion engine to recharge the battery and repeat. And my favorite hybrid option is to run the AC and heat with the combustion engine off only running from the battery until depleted, then the combustion engine will start to recharge the battery and repeat. This is what I call a true hybrid. If Ford can duplicate this feat with all other models they will dominate. And no need to go all electric for now.

Scotty makes alot of sense talking about hybrids being usable! Why do we have clueless, ignorant people making laws and policy for the rest of us instead of smart, pragmatic individuals?
