I remember being pumped to play it when it released. Paid $60 just to play for a half hour and then go back to Sims 3. Didn’t go back to the Sims 4 until the toddler update in 2017!

the sims 4 definitely had major pushback at release for being sold at $60 despite missing like half the features of previous games

Now, if we could Center Gates, like we can center doors and windows. That would be awesome

I sometimes forget that this game was so barren. I look back on my old builds and I see so much that I would change. Not just color choices and furniture but the placement of the windows the doors and even stuff with the layout. I also remember the pillars used to function completely differently. So much has changed over ten years its crazy

Core memory unlocked: back in the Sims 1 days I had a friend tell me that Sims filled their hunger need faster when the room was red. So for like a decade I always made my dining rooms with red carpet and red walls.

The chaos that was building in the original Sims game is unparalleled. The Sims 4 could never.

that plant at 11:00. I wish the sims team would make plants that are corner-specific. Like they all lean away from the corner / have a couple of different models so that you can at least have them closer to a corner wall or a wall in general! Plants in real life do that so easily 😭

as someone who started playing in 2021, this is SCARY

now you should renovate with just base game! I think it would be a very interesting way to see what changed in the base game in the last 10 years.

I remember going to pick up my pre ordered copy on release day from EB Games (Canadian Game Stop) and spending 1 whole hr installing the game and playing for like 30 minutes. I WAS SO DISSAPOINTED because when sims 3 came out in 2009 and I got it very quick after release and it just did not compare. It has come a long ways since 2014!

You should renovate this house to showcase things that DID come in later updates, even minor things like item slots on top of toilets

reusing the same rugs throughout a small-medium sized build is such a pet peeve for me now that i have so many packs, but seriously back then you had such limited options that it was a necessary sacrifice. i cant imagine going back simsie is stronger than me lol

If I remember correctly there was a limited object placement on other object (ex a flower on the table) and they added more later on because ppl complained about not fitting a lot of clutter or something

OMG
I feel old now
Like REALLY old
Remember when I started playing Sims 4 after release in 2014, when I was in 8th grade. Now I graduated from university and got a law bachelor's degree and getting a master's degree, have a job, was engaged, broke up with a fiance and moved to another city. Gods, I literally grew up with this game. I'm glad to see how much progress Sims 4 and I have made together❤

I wasn't playing at launch cuz the Mac launch took them like a year 😂😭 it's a shame knowing how rushed this game's development was but it's very impressive what the team has been able to add on to their existing base code over the years, especially considering TS4 was originally supposed to be an online multiplayer game

A lot of older suburban homes had a ton of hallways. Open concept was a later thing. Honestly, there's so many rl houses that have stuff we would hate to do in the sims, lol.

I remember the update that allowed us to stack windows and I remember watching simsie’s video covering it. I didn’t even realize I had been subscribed/played that long

I don't know how Kayla remembers what came out in the original base game and what was added even a little bit later 😵‍💫 I guess it's just from building using the same small amount of items over and over again!

I got the sims 4 2019 so I’ve, thankfully, never had to experience this version of the game
