Today's Topic: AWS Billing Budgets | Managing your costs with AWS Budgets

Here on this video we will see how to create a monthly budget for billing and how to manage the costs with AWS Budgets

You can create budgets to track and take action on your costs and usage. When you create a budget, AWS Budgets provides a Cost Explorer graph to help you to see your incurred costs and usage.

It can take up to 24 hours for this graph to appear after AWS Budgets enable Cost Explorer and AWS Billing Dashboard is set to Global not a region wise.

To Create a cost budget
Use this procedure to create a budget that's based on your costs.

In the navigation pane, choose Budgets.

At the top of the page, choose Create budget.

Here you can see that, Budget creation limited because cost explorer is not been enabled yet for this account and to enable this option we need to create a budget or enable the cost explorer and this changes can take up to 24 hours to take effect.

For Choose budget types, choose Cost budget. Then, choose Next.

Under Set budget amount, for Period, choose how often you want the budget to reset the actual and forecasted spend. Select Daily for every day, Monthly for every month, Quarterly for every three months, or Annually for every year.

If your budget period is Daily or Annually: For Enter your budgeted amount, enter the total amount that you want to spend each budget period.

If your budget period is Monthly:

For Choose how to budget, choose Fixed to create a budget that monitors the same amount every month.

For a Fixed budget, Enter your budgeted amount, enter the total amount that you want to spend every month.

Then you need to choose an Alert Threshold that you want the alert to notify must have to provide an email address.

To get an invoice, AWS usage charges and free tier usage alert we must have to choose all the options to get an email notification.
