Soldering 101 - An Intro to Basic Soldering

The basic soldering operation involves applying a sufficient amount of heat to the two surfaces being joined together. The hot tip is applied to the junction of two surfaces and held for several seconds before applying the solder to the junction—the junction of both surfaces must be allowed to melt the solder for an ideal solder joint. Soldering is a learned process which is optimized through experience.

Damn. I have a Yamaha RM1x that needs a capacitor replacing and my EE buddy is not great at getting stuff back to me (I offered to pay for service but he won't accept it)
Thought I'd try it myself but seems like I'd more likely just brick the PCB or fail to get the heat balance right... Back to the buddy it is
