Celestion V30 Vs Neo Creamback shootout

Celestion V30 and neo creamback are two great speakers, also great for mixing together. The Vintage 30 and neo craemback are well suited tonally mixing an industry standard with the warmth and boldness of the neo creamback. In this video we set both speakers directly against each other and then mix them through several style, allowing you to hear what each speaker is doing under similar circumstances.

To do this we recorded both speakers in an identical 1x12 setup, same mics, mic placements, amps and settings by re-amping the same scenario through several different styles.

We love to hear your thoughts on anything speaker related, if you've used this pair before or the individual speakers, or if you have any suggestions please get in touch.

Creamback smokes the V30 for everything IMO

I bought a used Victory 212VH vertical 2x12 to pair with my VX100 head. Besides the G12H30 bringing the power rating down to 60w combined with the V30, I found the G12H30 harshly bright, especially with it being the top speaker while sitting close to the cab. So I replaced the G12H30 with a Neo Creamback, and I couldn't be happier! It pairs really nice with the V30 on the bottom. Power handling for the 2x12 is now 120w (plus lighter!), and the lower sensitivity of the Neo works well for being the top speaker, with the V30 below...

Love the Neo Creamback, one of my favourite speakers. Keeps the low end tight like a V30 but has the mids and upper of a greenback, very well balanced.

Best demo/comparison of these two on YouTube

Creambacks slay! The V30 sounds like it has a head cold in comparison!

Great, I'm waiting to hear it. I really like the 2 speakers mixed together.
In the future I will order Celestion V30 Vs Neo Creamback shootout 4x12.

The comparison at 2:44 perfectly shows why I hate the Vintage 30. I play mostly high gain and can't stand that constant sizzle once you get gain going. I will never understand how the V30 became the default speaker in most high end cabs.

Great comparison video! I love the sound of those creambacks. They're so full, smooth and warm sounding. The V30's have a really good sounding mid-range bite though. I think it's about time I get a Creamback/V30 cab...

yup the Cream Neo for my ear. Happy the lighter tech responds nicely for clean and monster tones. Thanks.

My go-to combo in my oversized fatboy! I might ping you guys again in the nearest future as we all know, one cab is never near enough haha

Wow, I didn’t realize how much the creambacks totally smoke the v30 in every shootout.

I have a Sourmesh 1936 2x12 cab that had a pair of 65w creambacks that I swapped one out for a Fane Crescendo A and man, that cab sings. Been thinking of ditching the other creamback and putting my other crescendo in it or getting a mesa traditional 4x12 and putting the two crescendos in there with two white label g12t-75s. Was running either a 1980 JMP 2204 or a Mesa Mark IV, now I’ve got a Marshall Origin for gigging and can’t believe how much ground that amp covers and how close it gets to the clean sound of my vintage JMP!

The Neo-Creams always come across really well ! I use the Neo-Cream IRs to great effect ;-) More even than Greenback G12Ms, but in the same ballpark. I'm not a Metal guy so the V30s never won me over, too fizzy with gain IMO. FWIW

Please compare with Alnico too ! Neo is sounding cleaner, but too bright and missing basic lows for me...

Neos FTW a 212 with a neo and a greenback may be the way to go

I was really wanting a neo creamback in a fender combo I have and was gonna wire it up so that I could run my crush 60 combo into it as well when I wanted to, but in the last few days I discover fanes ascension series and like several of those. Wish I could find a comparison of the neo to some of the fanes.

Another great video, thanks Zilla. As the proud opener of a Neo-loaded Laney VC-30, with an extension can earmarked for a speaker upgrade, this kind of answers a lot of my questions!

Great video. Seem close enough to make the swap to NEO a nobrainer for me in my 53 lb combo. SUGGESTION: I'd love to see the same video compare the NEO Creamback with Jensen's NEO Tornado Classic. They're direct competitors and I don't believe anyone's does a good comparo.

Both of them sound really great! I replaced two V30:s in a H&K 2x12 for a Neo Creamback and a Neo V-type, just out of curiosity! The two Neo-speakers combined sounds amazing! 👌👌
