His cognitive decline is actually sad. Compared this video to the debate video is like night and day.

He was great at speaking. It is. Reminder that getting old is not easy. We should show respect to Biden, this is who he really was, although we don’t vote for him, let’s show empathy. We are all getting old and thats inevitable

Such a difference between this and the debate

Now, this version of Joe Biden should have been president. If he was the nominee in 2016, a Trump presidency never would happened and we would be in the final year of Biden's second term.

14 seconds in and he's already more lively than I've witnessed in the last two weeks

What's weird is that because the recent debate was terrible I come back to interviews years ago to realize just how great of a man he is.

Such a fantastic interview, if not one of the best I've ever seen on late night. Colbert is having a fucking superb opening week, love everything about the new Late Show so far and I hope this kind of sincerity and honesty continues with future guests as well. It's just so nice to see something different in late night and not the typical celebrity circlejerk of stupid games and boring by the book interviews about kids or the celebrities upcoming movie. That being said, I can't wait for the Trump interview, it's gonna be hilarious

Colbert's father and two brothers died in a plane crash when he was a kid. Both went through terrible tragedies.

As a non American, I finally understood why Leslie Knope likes him so much.

Fantastic interview.
Irrespective of who the two people were, their respective positions or fame, just to see an honest and natural two-way dialogue, a normal conversation, without artifice or agenda, about the real qualities of being people and the vicissitudes of life, well, that was inspiring and *so* refreshing.
Something with substance. Why is this now so rare in the media of today?

One of the heaviest interviews I've seen on a talk show... Fucking A man this shows how Colbert "pushes the envelope" by having the best way of talking with a guest. In an endearing and emotional way, I salute you Stephen and Mr. Biden for talking about this.
