I get that the movie isn’t really trying to swing for the fences or anything, but I disagree with the girlboss & mary sue points. Taking note of wind movement is a crucial part of storm chasing and was a thing in the original as well.
Actually I admire the movie for avoiding messaging & politics altogether and just presenting the tornadoes and survivors guilt arc.

I have absolute faith in this reviewer. She knows story mechanics more deeply than other online reviewers.

I actually really like this movie. Suspenseful with humorous moments, and likable characters. I also appreciated how there wasn’t a cheesy villain in this. And like how it’s pretty humanistic for a disaster movie

Love that you're reviewing these 'blockbuster' type movies as well whenever you feel like it.

Nerdy quirky guy in a Hawaiian t-shirt who catches the walkie-talkie and says "We're on it!" appeared in Contact. Seriously, he does that exact thing.

I strongly agree with this reviewer. She has become my go to reviewer as of lately. She's grounded, well thought out, and speaks freely.

No one expects a tour de force when it comes to storytelling. This is prime stuff your face with popcorn, enjoy the special effects, have a great time at the movies. That’s all that I’m expecting and that’s all I want.

You do realize her being able to see the elements and how the storms are going to go is a throwback to Bill Paxtons character from the first which you claim to have seen. I thought it was obvious.

I liked it. And counter to your argument about the director, I like that there was a director this time that grew up in Tornado Alley. I think he picked up on things Jan de Bont couldn’t.

Big fan of the first one, I was happy to see they didn’t try to make any direct connections between the two (constant referencing, cameos, etc) other than DOROTHY. Loved the score too. I am a huge fan of the 90s orchestral music but I got to say the Midwest, Dukes Of Hazzard/Yellowstone country music vibe this film had really worked for me.

Not a JAWS type of summer blockbuster status to be had with this one but overall an enjoyable summer popcorn flick.

I thought Glen Powell acted circles around Daisy Edgar-Jones. To me she felt like a wooden board walking around the entire time.

The disaster/survival genre will probably always have a place in cinema. That is a good thing. The courage, strength, and triumph of the human spirit in overcoming adversity.

Heyday of disaster movies was the 1970's... the Airport movies, Earthquake, Towering Inferno...

It sucks you didn’t like it. I loved it. For me it was just a fun, big movie. I may be biased since it was filmed very close to where I live. It really captured the reality of the look and feel of these storms that we deal with every year.

I understand your love for old school film scoring. There is just something about using the classics with a large orchestra that really enhances the drama on the screen. Bernard Herrmann, Jerry Goldsmith, Elmer Bernstein, Alfred Newman, the Hollywood golden era of sound. How I miss it!!!

I watched "Twisters" last night your review is by a landslide the most accurate on You-Tube. Well said. Subbed.

Best scene in the original was the cow flying across the screen😂 Intensely Memorable
