Never had an REI employee do this in a store. All employees should watch this and learn to show customers. Learned more than ever in this vid.

If you have cleats, I'd start with the shoe cleat position 1st since that can affect the saddle height. Typically put the center of the cleat 10 to 20 mm behind the big toe metatarsal joint. Moving the cleat back helps prevent exaggerated heel movements during the pedal stroke which is better for longer endurance rides.

Thanks man. I inherited my stepfather's bike and I've been meaning to Google how to adjust it to fit my body for years now. I wasn't even sure this whole time if such a thing was Google-able, or fitting it to a person was possible for most bikes.😂

I'd love to see a mountain bike specific version of this. I know you mentioned MTBs but they're a whole other beast and really do deserve a detailed look.

You shoudn't put your cranks in the 6 'o clock position, you should put them parallel to the seat tube. You did it right in the video though.

Does the reach really matter if your on more of a cruiser bike ? Mine is a hybrid of the two, more of a mountain bike/cruiser. So I can adjust the handle bars but not sure if the reach really makes a difference in comfort or if it's just preference?

2:28 if I ride with such a bended knee, then I'd get knee pain straight away.

that Cannondale is old like 2012 for something, your video is so simple is almost unusable. You should tell them to take a tool with them to adjust seat height while on a ride. Start out a little low and go higher until it does not feel right then lower it a small amount and it will be dialed in. I find the reach is the hardest to dial in.

Pedaling with any bend in my knee causes horrible knee pain - leg needs to recover to a fully straight position.

Should have mentioned the basic point of not being able to see the front hub, if you have the reach correct!

You say go to the bike shop, but do you realize how much money it would cost, to do what you just did for free? And in less then 5 minutes?
