You should get an expert on the Quran to talk about the Quran as well as Christians to talk about the bible just to make this fair and see all points of view

i appreciate that david wolpe acknowledged and said to lex that "i don't know much about quran and muhammad(saw) so i don't wanna get another faith wrong."

He was very careful not to mispeak on Islam but proceeded to continually get things wrong about Christianity without batting an eye lol

I appreciated him trying not to interpret another religion. That is wisdom and respect. Definitely agree that Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, Dr. Timothy Winter, Dr. Umar Farooq Abd-Allah, or Dr. Sherman Jackson should be invited for the Islamic worldview.

Correction: There are several New Testament writers who met Jesus in person.

Great talk. A few notes to add to some points David made.

1. David said God was never on the earth, Christians believe that God was. God's spirit did come to earth upon creation, in the old testament over the waters when the earth was without form and void, and in the garden of eden.

2. After Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden tree in the garden, Adam and Eve "heard the sound of the Lord God walking", indicating that God was indeed on earth and in the garden with them.

3. David says he doesn't like what Jesus said "leave your father and mother and follow me", David does not like that as a religious model. In Genesis 2 verse 24 it's written "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh". Jesus repeated this statement in the new testament.

I appreciate the dialog but the guest doesn't understand Christian doctrine or history as well as he thinks. He should caveat his lack of knowledge like he does with Islam.

Very smart gentleman you had here on your show. Glad to see he was clear and concise on what he knew and what he didnt know as much. Appreciate that.

You should get Dan Wallace on your show. He is digitizing the thousands of NT manuscripts and making them freely a available for scholars to study. He’s also a really fun speaker.

Islam does not say that it is a new religion. Islam says that it came as a continuation of what came before it, that the message has been the same since the time of Adam. The Torah and Gospel, like other holy books before them, were altered by man, and various versions existed over time. Muhammad was sent with the Quran to reaffirm and correct what came before it.

Very interesting! I appreciate his delicacy when talking about Islam, shows his humbleness in knowledge. Also, I recommend you invite Hamza Tzortzis for questions on the islamic religion👍🏼

3:54 “None of the books of the New Testament were written by people who met Jesus” is incorrect

Peter, James, John all met Jesus pre crucifixion
Paul met Jesus post crucifixion

I am a Christian so keep that in mind…

I agree with a lot of what he said about Christianity.

One big error however.
When talking about the sacredness of the three different books, he is right to say the New Testament’s is slightly different from the other 2, however when he said none of the books were written by people who met Jesus, that is just flat wrong.
Matthew, John, Paul, Peter, James (Jesus’ brother), and maybe Mark.

Peace and Love to you all!

Here's a list of the books in the bible of writers who met Jesus in person:
- Gospel of John
- 3 epistles of John
- Revelations
- 1 Peter
- 2 Peter
- Matthew
- book of James (Jacob)
- Jude

That's a pretty hefty of list of writers who met Jesus. He definitely got that claim wrong.
There's more that may have met Jesus but we don't know for sure, like Mark.

The Quran explicitly sates it has no contradictions with the original Torah and original Bible before changes were made to these books.

I thought he was going to say something better when he mentioned what he didn’t like about what Jesus said, Ngl I was like..”that’s it?” Lol

When Pharaoh of Moses died, Quran says something like Earth and Sky didn't weep for him. This statement is not found in Bible. Later they found written in tombs something like "when you died earth wept for you, skies wept for you".

"Leave your mother and father and follow me." Sounds like "change your behaviour from old ways."
