Signal and System: Energy of Continuous-Time Signals (Solved Problems) | Part 3
Topics Discussed:
1. The calculation of the continuous-time signal's total energy.
2. Effect of time-reversal on the total energy of a signal.
3. Effect of time-shifting on the total energy of a signal.
4. Effect of amplitude-reversal on the total energy of a signal.
5. Effect of amplitude-scaling on the total energy of a signal.

|2j|² is confusing

First Square then Modulus so...
It should be like this |(2j)²| for better understanding.

If you’re doing amplitude shifting of the signal then you are probably adding a dc value. And dc value is not an Energy signal. Your signal will no longer remain an Energy signal. Energy will become infinite.
I think.

What is effect of amplitude shifting on total energy?
Multiplied by the shifting value to total energy of original signal??

Can u explain more at (13:56), how u can get (2j)^2 = 4.
where is the "j"?
thanks at first.

Sir, what will happen if we do amplitude shifting

Could you pls solve the second problem by conventional method

Can someone please explain the effect of amplitude shifting on the value of the Total energy. e.g. x6(t) + 2. in that case amplitude will become 4+2=6. Then mod square will give 36. Area= 36*2 = 72

I think the energy is fixed for a signal. Then, why the energy is changed by time scaling? What is the physical interpretation beyond it?

In the 2nd ques of this part while calculating energy in final step what has happened to "j²" where is it ...???

Why the energy is not zero in this case?
After all it is a finite duration signal.

why didn't u talk about amplitude shifting?pls xplain that here

Sir I don't think that, concept of time scaling will work for x(t)=2t

In first problem after time reversal the value will be - 32
