Chernobyl tour

So we started at 8:00 am in the morning in Kyiv. The trip took us the whole day. Highlights of the tour were the deserted town of Zalyssia, Kopachi kindergarten, the Duga radar Station and Prypiat. The sarcophagus of the former nuclear plant was not that exciting.

I don't always like touring places that I can safely see from the internet, but when I do, I make sure there's radiation.

50, 000 people used to live here now its a ghost town.

I was kinda feeling this to be on my bucket list, but since there're so many people visiting it, it loses it's ghostly appeal... It's more like a carnival site to see now.

For people saying it’s very dangerous to go there today, it really isn’t. All of the radiation you’re receiving by visiting Chernobyl (following the tours) is literal fractions of your recommended annual limit. You can even go inside of the reactor 4 control room with only some protective gear required.

I'm sorry, but this type of tour seems very perverse to me. So many people died here in 1986, and so many more in the years following with the after-effects of radiation. I understand wanting to visit the site to learn about the tragedy. Maybe I am being dramatic. But this seems weird.

Tourists treat this like a fun holiday while people still suffer from the aftermath of this disaster.
