Top 5 extinct diesel locomotives

For another top 5 video I decided to do extinct diesel locomotives. I've other videos of extinct steam locomotives and other stuff but never have I seen a video on extinct diesel locomotives. So I decided to make one of my own and it turned out pretty good. I decided to do something different and not talk this time but instead edit the text and put some space ambient background to the video.

Nice video! I don't think the SD60MAC is extinct since 9501 still exists, even if stored.

We railfans might think these were failures but GE didn’t. It learned from every model and that allowed it to improve the next one. That’s why the GE P42s became Amtrak’s locomotive of choice and have lasted over 25 years. The Dash 9-40 C came about because NS wanted the standard cab instead of the wide cab. The FRA later mandated wide cabs (safer) and the Dash 9-40C was no longer available. Similarly, the Seaboard Coast Line wanted the BQ23-7s so they could eliminate cabooses. When some of these locomotives went into production, EMD was the dominant player in the North American locomotive market. Now Wabtec (formerly GE rail) is the leader. BNSF has 5000 GEs. Warren Buffet doesn’t waste his money.

I definitely don’t think the AC44C6M’s are Ugly and I don’t get why they could be ugly they’re basically just AC4400CW’s they look identical to them. And I think they look cool especially with the fresh paint!, but Tbh i definitely think its awesome that NS gave these locomotives another chance to last a couple more decades instead of just scraping them.

He's a NASCAR fan, so everything has to be aerodynamic. Those odd locos remind me of cab over tt units, they had their propose. Some people like them still.

You can say what you want about the bq237.she may not have been a beautiful diesel, but she would pull a train.this locomotive was a known as a hard working. Unit.i know because I operated one of these on the scl.she wasn't a thing or beauty, but she was a unique engine.

As of November of 2020 BNSF still had DD60MAC units in service. I left the company in November of 2020.

Re: SD60MAC. These units were not production units, were technology test beds for what would ultimately become the SD70 series along with the Siemens AC drive system, which was used on the 70-mac. Another technology testbed locomotive which you did not acknowledge does deserve mentioning - there were two F69PHAC locomotives built by EMD as tech demonstrators, painted in Amtrak colors and used by Amtrak. Only the two were ever built.

Here in Mexico we have a very rare locomotive carbody: it is the NdeM #8941, an old U36CG, that today is located at Aguascalientes. In 2018 I saw some remaining parts of an old U34CH (ex Alstom leasing unit) that was scrapped at Veracruz a few years ago along side with other B23-7's and C30-7's by Ferrosur. The U34CH is (or was) a very odd locomotive model too. Greetings from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico✌

Yes, it was very sad to see them sold for scrap.to me "the bq23-7s was very reliable and they were very fuel efficient. With only 12 cylinders and 4 cycle 7fdl engines, they were heavy at 269, 000 lbs with 3, 000 gallon fuel tanks. I liked them .and they had a very distinctive sound.and they were excellent switchers. You cab call them what you will, but I. Operated one of these and I'll tell you this, they worked fine! As a matter of fact, I went out and bought me one in hi scale and I rebuilt it into a model that looks lime the real one right now "I am painting her. Off scl family lines system. Colors. They are gone "but not forgotten!because I have one in model.and she looks fine to me. A lot of. Rail fans hated this locomotive.but not me !I fell in love with them. The minute I saw all ten of them when they were new with plastic over their airborne, and their exaust stacks.you could smell the fresh paint as they went by.they had a boxcar between the locomotive consist and the train.gone for good, but can still be modeled on to scale.
