That is exactly what I just notice. I had something saved a while back, and I looked again its "on sale" but its the same price, but the original price is higher. Stores do the same thing on Black Friday as well. If you go before, and check out the price, you will see the same price on sale with higher original value.

I knew that for years. Every store does the exact same thing for Black Friday.

I only buy things on days like prime day or black friday that i already wanted. I keep track of the prices as they rise and fall and i see a ton doing fake sales on those days. A lot just are constantly on sale and never hit the price they claim is normal, but some even raise the normal price and then list the sale price as the standard price. This will help you avoid getting tricked into paying the normal price while thinking it's on sale

Yeah they did this with their bed sheet sets. I knew I had bought them 2 separate times for 29.99. On prime day they were on sale for 21.99 but the list price was 79.99 making it look like an incredible deal when really you only save $8, not $58.

Your channels content is TOP notch. I’m telling ya, TOP notch. I feel like a an idiot sometimes when I learn something from you. The amount of useful information per second is off the charts with you

I remember that stores used to do something similar. They would raise the price and then slap a 'sale' tag on top of it. I remember back in 1987, Kroger, the grocery store chain, did this all the time!

A Recommended Retail Price only has to be active one day of the year by law in Australia. Some companies use this to say 60% off 364 days of the year. The clothing brand 'Kathmandu' has been doing this for maybe 2 decades, but the masses haven't cottoned on and they still do it.

All companies do this and have been for years. JcP stopped doing it for a time, and instead of sales, they just had all regular prices, but realized people are dumb and "need" sale prices to impulse buy more than they need.

I've seen prices go up on Prime Day. Often it's cheapest a week before. Your best bet is to shop and keep items in your cart so you can track the price on a daily basis starting at least a month prior to Prime Days. The first year I spent hundreds. This year, under $50.00.

Former USG1 (5 years) here. Prime day or any of the “special” days are just them clearing old inventory. Never had I seen them increasing inventory or getting newer items prior to those special days!

I memorize prices and I saw a lot of this for nearly everything I looked at. I did find some good deals though, but these price lies are everywhere. You can even find stuff marked up 1000% I bet that is done with the hope someone will buy it and not notice until it is too late. Free market and too much freedom causes a lot of evil acts

Best strategy: go check the prices of what you want and save it in your cart, wait for discounts days, prime, black friday, hot sale, whatever, then see if the price really dropped, do this in different online stores then you'll get the best discounts.

Before blackfriday/prime day sale, I go and look up things I want; before saving screens shots. During the sale I pull up my screen shots and compare to see if I want the deal

I’ve used so many of good suggestions. Love the content!

I had a couch in my cart that was around $299. Prime day came and it went up to $320 on sale from $1000. No joke. Thought that was wild.

Just buy what you need, buy what you want if you have money left.

Do not listen to the sellers, of course every deal is a trick. They are making money, they are not a philanthropy.

Not allowed in the EU. When Amazon does that in the EU, they get a huge fine.
