Aww, what a beautiful and adorable girl!
My family had a jet black American akita with white patches; her name was Teka. She was very protective, but loving. Quite a serious dog, but she loved spending time with my family and me.
My grandpa owned her brother named Bear (the two were like Ying and Yang because Bear had the opposite color pattern of Teka. He was white with black patches.) and he would occasionally take Bear to our house to let Teka play with him.
They roughhoused in a playful way; and loved eachother so much.
But sadly, Bear died 4 years before Teka did. So Teka was very sad because of his passing.

Teka lived about 14 years and passed away in our backyard last July. When she was about to die, she raised her tail one last time and cried a faint howl.. Our house will never be complete the way it was when she was here. And I miss her so much... Both dogs were truly blessings from God.

Misa seems to have more of a Japanese Akita Inu personality. She is not as serious as many American Akitas are. She's a great ambassador for her breed, gentle, well socialized & adorable!

American Akitas are so beautiful in my opinion they're the best dog companion you can have I have had Akitas 1993 I am so spoiled partial to American Akitas that I will never have any other breed of dog they make a really great an addition to our family and they're really great one with our kids that are very affectionate and intelligent

I’ve had akitas for 40 years. With proper training they are incredible pets. Ours all got along with our cats, and other dogs through constant socialization from a young age. They lick their paws like cats, and are very confident and calm. The only negative is that big dogs tend to have short lifespans, typically 10-12 for akitas. Also if you have never owned a dog, don’t get an akita as your first dog. You need to learn Dog 101 before owning one.

Beautiful animal. Great breed. I had a Akita/lab got him at 7 mos. Previous family couldn’t really handle him. Also had a Alaskan Husky. They became best friends and played harder than most dogs fight. I had to occasionally break up fights the Akita hurt the Husky pretty bad once and pussy footed around the Husky till the Husky healed. He might fight with the Husky but no one else better mess with him. Him and I (male) were very close. I couldn’t ask for a better friend. Very protective of everyone and the property. The Husky protected my youngest daughter, he was hers. The Akita protected everyone else. Loved our granddaughters. No worries when they played in the yard.
