As a Canadian this 1964 recorded song is among one of the most beautiful ever from England along with another 1964 song from England recorded by Chad and Jeremy called Willow Weep For Me.

Still one of my favorites from my youth along with “Don’t Let The Sun Catch You Crying”.

It's people like you that keep sanity for the rest of us.
What I mean by that is in today's world there is so much missing that existed in the 60s and 70s. Thank you very much for what you do This is actually my favorite song by them. And you've done it well.

One of the best songs ever recorded. I'm an American but my Mothers people were from England and Scotland and if I ever make it across the pond I'm taking the Ferry across the Mersey because of this song. Gerry was an absolute Legend. His voice was extraordinary and his Boy next door Good Looks didn't hurt either. His smile was infectious. I like his band far better than the Beatles but that's just me. RIP Gerry. You'll never walk alone.

Let the 60s sounds keep the faith alive

Notice how the bongos are used as a focusing device only in the intro and first 2 verses. Their usefulness seems to expire immediately after that prelude, which from an arrangement standpoint, I would agree. Very interesting.

The bongos add a dramatic period sound. Lots of musical experimentation going on back then. Bongos were predominately featured by British Invasion bands, in particular. Sometimes they were used only in the outro. This song, however, may be the only significant one where bongos were used only in the intro.

Is there any way you can take some of the live performances of the period (concert and TV studio) and try to enhance the audio of those tracks?
