I got to episode 1109, and honestly alabasta was the absolute slowest arc because of the desert environment.
Edit: just because I said the arc was slow doesn't mean I hate it. The parts where the pacing was a bit better were awesome, but the rest were monotonous af

I'm pretty sure it's because of the 1100 episodes because TOEI started animating One Piece while the manga was young. Prime One Piece would be 400-500 episodes if they started even three to four years after it released so they don't have to race with Oda

LEGIT MAN. The dessert part of Alabasta is the only truly awful filler in One Piece. I know it's there to try and get us attached to Ace but GOD IS IT BORING.

No, the bigger problem is Long Ring Long Land Arc because that arc lasts way too long for what is essentially the most boring stuff in One Piece to ever exist. I wouldn't be surprised if people quit after 5 episodes of that because there is just nothing happening and it feels like more of a filler arc than the filler arc right before it (G-8 is the greatest filler arc in One Piece and maybe all of anime history, imo).

This episode made me leave one piece for over 3 years. Just couldn’t watch it maybe it was because of the slow pacing. Last year, a friend talked me into resuming it and I’m so glad I listened ❤ currently in episode 1112 and can’t wait to start the elbaf arc!
