I use to use a banana hook because it was convenient. I then read somewhere that if you separate the bananas they won't ripen as fast. It works! I now tear the bananas apart and lay them a bit away from each other. Also, they will ripen faster if put with other fruits. I use to place them with the apples and oranges but, don't do that anymore.

With the straws on the cabinet door if worried about the long ones falling out when opening the door to fast you can get a small piece of elastic or material and use glue dots or another command strip to give them just a little more support
