DJI Phantom 2 Vision Plus - Drone 3 - 1st Flight 8/24/14

This is a return replacement for Drone2 from B&H Photo in New York who handled the problem promptly. Unfortunately, I didn't get either drone back before I left on my 8 day fishing trip. It would have been an awesome addition to the trip. Shea McIntire from Stoked On Fishing was on the trip filming the whole trip with a Sony video camera and GoPro camera. have a trip in 3 weeks and they say it will take 4 weeks to look at Drone1'. Drone 2 with 9 satellites also circles at 15 feet in the air and seems to drift.... will try to capture with a GoPro. Must be interference from something. I will try different locations. Subsequently, I got set up to do a second flight, and I lifted up to about 10 feet and the phantom shot to the right and crashed into a tree about 30 feet away. Gimbal was hanging by one pin, the three wire harnesses to the gimbal were disconnected, with one of them having the wires pulled out of the plug. The second one was purchased through B&H Photo. I received a return authorization and returned it to them. When I returned from the fishing trip, B&H Photo shipped the replacement and it was waiting for me. I had a lot of catch up to do before I could get back to flying. This is the first flight. I'm trying to use my Canon video camera and a GoPro to capture the flights from the ground. It will take a little practice to figure out the best configuration to capture the flights...
