I too believe in you, Anthony. You will get better at acting.

I don't think I want to have a beer with Anthony

That Python code which takes "object" as the parameter of the class is older style Python 2 code. Python 3 does not require this and you can simply declare "Class Car:".

guys in the comments are so mean!! it's a free educative video and it's not supposed to be evaluated depending on their acting
Thank You Udacity

why did they make this video? If you seriously know Python and how constructors and instance variables work, and you can't figure an almost 1:1 example out with a little difference syntax, you need *serious* help

"you can do it Anthony i believe in you" was a patronising way of her boss trying to BOSS him subtly.

GEORGIA: Anthony...? Are you okay?
ANTHONY: <has head down like that and clearly not sleeping>
NO!! GEORGIA!!! ANTHONY IS CLEARLY NOT OKAY

xD

Hmmm, they say in Python you have to add the explicit _self_ which you don't have to do in Ruby, but that's not entirely true: even in Ruby you still have to add the _@_ for instance attribute access.

Python code shown is older Python 2 style. With Python 3 you do not need to take "object" as a parameter to the class. Minor difference but worth noting.

Great concept but dear god this is so cringeworthy 😂

Both languages have their pros & cons. Just look at the beauty and elegance of python; the language is such as a sexy beast.

They are just different syntax. nothing is bad nor good.

i love ruby but its only good for three things, teaching coding to beginner programmers, forcing you to learn engineering skills by implementing things the interpreter lacks or you dont want to use cjava for, and finnaly the reason you dont see us trying to make ruby compilers for any machine is because metaprogramming is pretty damn hard to modify a programs source code from its source code then update the changes in machien code, machine code and modify memory structure allowing metabehavior rather than modifying the source

I just learn for fun for now. Would not found that this question could be asked :D I would ask google or myself :D I like to play around with the code before asking google or communities

Would be way more believable if he said... "Hey Georgia. My friend Walter told me to write out my backend in brainfuck, buuutttt I don't know brainfuck and the syntax is weird and I don't know what I'm doing."

No one is cringing more than programmers watching this video

WTF??, did he said "the syntax is weird" just to admit 2 minutes later that actually the syntax is quite similar to another language that apparently he already knows?? do you even try Anthony?? come on Anthony, I know you can do it.

Johny Sins wouldve been a better choice for this episode.

That is a good introduction, but not a logical comparison.

People do it because they share the ability to do object dynamics very well but Ruby is an a whole another level [in my opinion] because it has the element of surprising mechanics that have a lot more of range with less effort.
Yet, for stealth hats you got to give python the upper hand as it has more processing power to do some very out of boundary programming.

Yet what gems Ruby to me the most is that is haves the ability to go past itself and merge as well.

These languages when they are actually explained thoroughly are like cousins but vastly different when it comes to it's fullest potentials at use.

could you recommend a good ruby on rails course in order to jump into a junior dev role? do I need to learn ruby? I know basics in Python
