Can we just agree that windows updates SHOULD NOT DO BIOS UPDATES!

Sounds like we need MB manufacturers to start putting a BIOS flash lockout switch on the motherboards. The OS forcing a BIOS flash is unacceptable. It's bad enough that CMOS settings can be changed, but actually overwriting the BIOS? That's tampering with other peoples property!

Great upload! Loved the "sorry, not sorry" to Intel at the end. Also really like that you're able to fabricate your own parts as needed. Just amazing work all around.

This is why we need to go back to the old days where we had the option to turn off updates. And the option to turn it off actually means off, not well it's on but we tell you it's off.
This week my Huawei phone decided to update itself even though I had the automatic updates turned off and it made my phone unusable. So I had to go back to an older version to save it which meant to start all over again. Also the google backup didn't work at all. Thanks Google.

Why can't developers just leave the option of turning off automatic updates? If it's for security reasons then just have a message before turning it off that says hey your device won't be protected as much without the latest updates do you understand yes or no and are you willing to accept the risk, then once the user agrees to turning it off, it should be off until the user decides to turn it on.

Windows update things.. proceeds to do a bios update, when there is an unstable overclock applied. No need to ask the user. Nice.

I just googled why you were specifically using acetone with the dry ice and found out that it's because it freezes at -93ºC, which is below the -78ºC that dry ice sublimates at. So the dry ice can sublimate without the liquid freezing. Neat!

I'm truly excited for a future where steam os makes Linux in general more viable for the many gamers who would gladly tell Microsoft to f off, if it didn't hurt our gaming libraries.

It's impressive how all of this was done with a 230w PSU! Also dunno who decides it was a good idea to apply such delicate updates thru windows Update, couls literally brick your pc if it goes wrong!

Great results, well done and congrats. Big props on persistence to fix the update caused issues and glad to see MSI sticking to help. I bet those mobile chips where screaming "I'm not meant to be doing this! ", hahahah but ya 5.7ghz is impressive

There needs to be a warning if the BIOS is going to modified by the system update. If the system is potentially in an unstable state when this happens the BIOS could be corrupted to an uncrecoverable state. This is UNACCEPTABLE.

Love your videos Der8auer, for any pc i have ever setup for gaming or overclocking i have always set the group policy for the local machine to not enable windows update drivers. If you enable this it will never push anything to your pc unless you do it manually... maybe this will help you in the future.
search edit group policy and then narrow down through:
computer configuration\administrative templates\windows components\windows updates\manage updates offered from windows update\
set do not include drivers with windows updates to enable

Getting a new windows update that forcefully overrides my radeon drivers and either gets stuck in a boot loop or straight up BSOD's is a classic

Doesn't this mean a power loss during a software update could now brick your motherboard?

updated W10 yesterday evening and I spent 1h troubleshooting my PC (with intel 12th gen) because it could not even boot

It’s annoying because for power users windows updates being pushed is super disruptive, but then again I wouldn’t trust most pc users to keep their windows up to date and patched manually. Keeping windows up to date is somewhat important for security
