DON'T do this in Pakistan (We're Sorry!)

We made a mistake.
In this Pakistan Travel Vlog, we arrive in a beautiful little town in Skardu. After seeing so many smiling faces, I decided to have a little fun. There was a small place making naan bread, we took one to make a mask to make the locals laugh. This had the opposite effect. They all seemed quite offended that I had used bread this way. I learned later bread was sacred. I had taken my love of capturing people's smiles a little too far.

We continue on and have some of the most beautiful encounters with locals I have ever had. You can tell by all the portrait shots. It was one of the friendliest places I have ever been.

After visiting Fairy Meadows, Hunza Valley, Nanga Parbat, the Karakoram Highway, and all out other adventures, this was a nice way to continue of Pakistan Travel Vlog series

Pakistan tourism is on the rise. It's often called a dangerous place to travel. Our purpose was to spend our time, as foreigners in Pakistan to disprove this, and show the beauty of the people and the landscape to the world. CPIC Global sponsored out trip, but we did so without any security or military escorts. The only trouble we got into was bumpy roads.

While normally I solo travel, I was excited to have so many friends on the trip. Siya Zarabi from Hopscotch the Globe, Lexie Alford from Lexie Limitless, Ryan Riel from Opposite Travellers, Anushae Khan, Brooke Saward, and Alexandrina Cojocaru.

Excellent video. In muslim culture all food must be treated with respect as we are reminded of those less fortunate that donot have food or dont know where there next meal will come from.

Bread is food. Even in the Philippines we don't play with food. Food is a Grace from God and should not be disrespected.

All the eatables are respectable to remember there are many who can't afford nd if u have something eatable you have to respect it, its a sign of being thankful to God who bless you with the things to eat

Got to learn the hard way, that's the best way. Good to see you turn "negative" interactions into positive learning experiences!

Ok here i Explain the bread monster story to #Fearless&Far.
1).Imagine if a chef in Europe cooks bread for you with love and you start playing with the food instead of eating it how would he feel?
2).In Pakistan we are taught from very young age that respect food bcs its hard earned blessing of God which many dont have Enough to eat who are less fortunate. So when as kids we play with food Elders remind us that somebody somewhere don't have that food to feed themselves so its like we should act responsibly.
3). In Islam as Muslims also we are taught tobe thankful for whatever Allah has blessed us with as good or anything else and if we have more than what we need then rather than playing with it we should share it with less fortunate.
So it could be anything from above that could've offended them but its certainly not bcs you're a foreigner if it was a local then also tge reaction would've been same.
Cheers and best of luck for the Journeys Ahead.

I'm really glad you included the moment with the bread and used it not only as a learning experience for yourself, but also as a teachable moment for your viewers. A lot of times, people are ashamed of the mistakes they make and try to shy away from them...you did the opposite here. Obviously, this isn't my culture, so I can't speak to how disrespectful it may have been, but as someone who loves learning about the world, I appreciate you sharing your misstep with us. On another note, the raw crystals are beautiful! One of my favorite things to see in travel vlogs are markets, so it was really cool to see this one in Skardu! Always love seeing you guys talk with the locals and learn about these amazing places. Great video, Mike! 🐉

When we see food especially bread on ground we kiss it and either eat it or place it on higher ground its as respectable as Name of God. The people may not be that much offended they may have polite words to tell you that dear guest disrespecting bread goes against our culture but there was language barreir that gave impression of people getting very UPSET which i am sure they were not because it was done By a guest/forigners that dosent know much about the culture. So chill bro and Your videos are really fun to watch very positive and optimistic guy you are. Keep it up buddy.

I guess anywhere/everywhere you go, food is food! It must be respected! But that was an honest mistake and I admire you for admitting that in this video. We all learn at least. :)

Not only in Pakistani culture, but in Islamic Culture worldwide, mistreating food is considered disrespectful.
