Woodturning A Natural Edge Maple Burl Bowl Beautiful Grain

Maple Burl with beautiful grain. This piece looked like an oyster shell before I turned it but after it looks like a clam shell.
Here I turn a maple burl that I just wasn't sure what I would do with it.
Looking at it I knew the natural edge needed to be the main feature so I band-sawed the bottom to get a parallel spot to mount it in the lathe.
It worked out perfectly and I really love how this turning came out.

Beautiful piece of wood turned into a beautiful bowl! I'm always tempted to leave those natural little bumps (can't remember what they are called) but always seem to end up removing them. I'm glad you left some on there, the piece really looks great! Keep up the great work, Gary!

Really nice burl bowl. Love the way the bowl evolves. What size and type of carbide cutter did you use? Thanks again for sharing.
