I’m a paramedic from New Orleans who was in the Superdome for that game.
You can’t see it in the video, but the most touching part was that the names being projected on the screen didn’t stop at the top of the screen—they continued onto the ceiling, as though they were ascending to Heaven. When the screen dropped, the names continued.

U2 gives the performance of a lifetime when America needed it most and at the end, U2 is applauding America. 🥃🥃🥃🥃

For everyone calling the 2022 Superbowl halftime the best ever, I present the real GOAT.

The UNDISPUTED greatest halftime show ever put on anywhere. The timing, the message, the music, the humanity. It will never be topped.

This is quite possibly the most powerful performance in American history, the moment bono revealed the American flag, chills were sent down my spine, such a powerful and moving moment for the whole nation

I want to petition the NFL to have U2 do the Super Bowl for the 25 yr anniversary for 9/11. My husband was FDNY and is a big U2 fan. What they did in that performance was not only a fitting memorial to the people who were lost, but a tremendous uplifting and bringing together the people of America. And in my opinion in this time we need to be brought together again. The four lads from Ireland are our hope! God bless the lost, the first responders, our troops and most of all the world

I always end up back here at some point. Tears are literally streaming down my face. When I need to be reminded of how connected we all are-- I come here. Hands down one of the best, most moving performances at a time when we were all hurting--All of us-- Americans. Together. Grieving. And, collectively flipping our finger to a common enemy--hate. Bravo to U2 for rising to the occasion--and rallying the USA.

Who would’ve thought the performance to unify America would come from an Irish band. What an amazing moment. I was a child, but I’m thankful to be able to look back on this now.

When he opened his jacket, it was the first time I realized that this wasn't just one nation's tragedy, it was Earth's tragedy. It established a connection with me at a very young age when I first saw this video. It's as if he's saying, "Hey, we may not be Americans, but we're connected to this event. We're one in the same." God bless America and God bless U2.

I’m watching this on a Sunday morning in 2023 and weeping. I didn’t expect for this to still hit so hard.

Considering the circumstances, this is quite possibly the greatest live performance of all time.

I’m not even a U2 fan and I think this is not only the greatest musical tribute for 9/11, it’s the best Super Bowl half-time. They really hit it out of the ball park on this one.

It was so nice of Bono to let them have a football game during his concert.

still the greatest halftime show... don't say this often, but just feel like this performance was so needed. Feel like we need it again in this country today.

.. and this is why U2 will always be my favorite band. An Irish punk band from Dublin walks up on the stage and makes every heart in America swell with pride. When Bono opens his jacket and displays the flag lining, tears fall every time. What a class act U2 is.

On October 5, 2001 I attended the U2 concert at the University of Notre Dame. When Streets started we saw the names flowing up just like in this performance. Not a dry eye in the house. Not only because U2 went on with the show (there had been security concerns) but out of nowhere the band brought out New York Police Officers, Firefighters and first responders they had invited. It was mind blowing. They all stood there together with an American Flag 🇺🇸 and the Irish Flag 🇮🇪. One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. I have loved U2 since I was 10 years old and 40 years later I will love them until the end of the world. ❤️💯

I lost two previous high school classmates on 9/11. This video always speaks volumes about resilience, resistance and above all, love.

I can’t think of a more perfect choice of band for that moment. The NFL and U2 absolutely nailed this.

We as a people needed this directly after this intense period of grief. Its sad to say, but we need it again. A United America.

I'm not even American, but the moment Bono showcased the American flag in the inside of his jacket sent shivers down my spine. Thrilling performance by the best band of the last 25 years.
