Still gives me chills nearly 20 years on. A perfect tribute.

Whoever watches this and wasn't alive back then.. This is the one concert that brought the whole world to tears. We were in disbelief of humanity back then, our hearts were broken. It was like the first time we dared to party again. Everyone in the stadium was screaming out their pain. You can hear it in the video. Now in 2023, it still destroys me right in the moment the names start scrolling up. To our regret this great concert was interrupted by football.

Unfortunately, this was likely the last time many people in the world were American at heart. What followed was war mongering based on false facts, spying on innocent citizens, restrictions and regulations, the coalition of the willing, ultimately leading to a spike of anti-americanism in many western countries unseen before, even leading to change of governments in european countries and strenghtening Russia and China. It even paved the way to isolationist & populist heads of states. 9/11 and especially what followed changed the world we live in today. And it will never be the same.

If you want to listen to history, pump up the volume and listen to everyone screaming. See the tears in peoples' eyes. And you will know why. Not a single person who you see in this video will ever forget, some may forgive, but everyone has changed. Innocence was lost for an entire generation. However on this one day, we were all American. No, we were all human. Everyone was united. And we waved farewell.

I come back to this only every few years. As special as this moment was, watching this video will follow me for days and it also reminds me how much it impacted me during the years that followed. I can hardly imagine what people have to go through who lost someone on this darkest day where all rules of human civilization were shattered into pieces. My thoughts are still with all of you and always will be.

I’m not even a big U2 fan but that may be the single greatest performance within the context of the times ever seen

It’s 2022 and this is still the best halftime show ever. And they only played 2 songs! Amazing performance!

The curtain containing the 9/11 victims names dropping has some powerful symbolism

U2 managed to address the 9/11 tragedy and pay tribute to the victims without channeling any cheap, surface-level anger or resorting to heavy jingoism. It was all about love and healing.

That’s more difficult to pull off than they made it look. They simply let the message of their song choices and the victims’ names do all of the talking.

Truly, a staggering performance and still one of the best in Super Bowl history.

Wow, 21 years later and this still brought tears to my eyes. I saw U2 at Madison Square Garden literally a few weeks after 911 and it was one of the most emotional concerts I've ever seen of all time.

2024 and this is STILL the best Super Bowl Halftime Show ever. Right up there with Prince singing in a downpour and Michael Jackson using the entire stadium as a visual. U2 will forever be the greatest rock and roll force the world has ever known.

U2 is such a great live act. Bono has perfected performing in front of a stadium crowd. He just knows how to do it. Amazing show.

Still brings tears to my eyes all these years later. The names of the 9/11 victims scrolling in the background... When they transition into "... The Streets..." and Bono's American Flag in his jacket at the end... That sh*t was so powerful.

This IS, WAS, and EVER shall be the greatest SB Halftime show. PERIOD. Instead of focusing about popularity, egos, and scandals, The message was about Hope and Remembrance.
